Get banned for complaining about an issue with the truck? Makes me wonder if I should have kept my '13!

Come on. Every car has problems. My gen 1 had issues, my WRX had sone issues, my old Ford Explorer had issues. It’s part of having a car. The important part is that the company fixes things when they happen.

But there is no TSB on this issue, so I get the feeling when I go to the dealership, they are going to try and tell me it's normal!

If hood flex/flutter is all you have. Then consider yourself lucky.... you got a good truck.

Having an issue and discussing it is one thing

People get banned because they spew negativity all over the board and go into threads not about issues and start fights over their issues...or trade their vehicle and then continue to cause problems by bragging on their other brand and how great it is

It may be "normal" for Tacomas without the scoop, but it is not "normal"....and there is a "fix" if it is done correctly. I think this was also an issue on the non-scoop Gen 2 Tacomas. My wife's 2012 Off Road has unattached hood adhesive in a couple of places. However because the Gen 2 has a much shorter hood, there is no flutter. I have documented this problem with my dealer.

You have a very nice truck. I suggest keeping at the dealer until it is "fixed" correctly by a competent tech using the approved two part adhesive. Whatever...don't attempt the fix yourself unless you are really sure of what you are doing.

Dealer service departments try to discount the information obtained from Internet forums. Be ready for that, but hang in there. I have been buying new vehicles for over 55 years. Almost all of them have had issues that had to be resolved after delivery. This was especially true of my American made vehicles, but it also included three out of six of our Tacomas.

I drove a loaded 2017 TRD Sport for two weeks while my 2010 was at the dealer getting a new frame. The 2017 was definitely a nice truck but it had one show-stopping issue that made me think twice about replacing my 2010: the cab roof was too low. I am 6'/280 and the hair on the top of my head was brushing the headliner the whole time I drove the truck. The cab roof in my 2010 must be 2" higher than the one in the 2017. If there is a way to lower the driver's seat, I sure didn't find it.

Yeah I agree that the automatic transmission sucks but I drive a manual and if I got a 2017 it would come with a manual so that's a moot point. I also didn't like the touchscreen radio because every time I reached for the volume control my fingers would hit the screen and change the station. I had a few other minor complaints but nothing other than the cab height that would preclude me from buying a new model.

If the cab height isn't an issue and you don't care about the automatic transmission, then the new model is a great truck. I like the look of it more than my 2010 and it feels a little more comfortable/refined than the 2nd gen.

In my case I've decided to keep my 2010 until Toyota revamps the Tacoma again or I find a suitable replacement.

Must have had sunroof ? I'm 6'1" and don't have that problem or sunroof.
Most new radios are touchscreen and take time to get the feel for it. Not major deal breakers though imo.

Yeah it had a sunroof - I figured it had something to do with the height issue.

Point I was trying to make was the difference between gens with respect to cab size is going to be extremely similar. Going from a sunroof equipped truck to a non sunroof equipped truck is going to make all the difference.
