Picked up a set of Duratrcas. Stuck with 265/70R16 for now. Makes the truck look way better

How do you like them, when I'm ready for tires I'll be getting those in a 265/75/16.

I had them last time. Easily the worst tire I've ever had. Couldn't ever get them balanced completely. The traction starts out really good, but they lose that initial grip pretty fast. By 8k miles on them they were so loud it sounded like I had mud tires on my truck. Never again.

Curious why you think the vehicle they're on makes a difference in how the tires balance. Interesting theory.

I will be putting 265/75/16 Wildpeak AT3's when my factory ones wear out, don't need the KO2's so will just get the SL rated ones and have heard nothing but good on the wildpeaks..

I'm hoping to learn more about those. The problem with tires, people give reviews on them 15 miles in, just like the thread we're in now. I want to know about them after 15-20k miles. Had you asked me about my duratracs after 2 months, I would have given them a glowing review. But they got worse as the miles stack up.

A 35" tire is more sensitive to balancing due to its size. I think he meant 265's on Tacoma and 4runner balance fine

I like these tires, but I think I'm going with ko2 on my Tacoma, just like I did on my 4runner.

I had 265s. I lived at the tire shop it felt like trying to get them balanced. I gave up.

very true. i think that's a big part of why i wanted to try them again to see if they smooth out how they hold up. i have a co-worker that hows about 50k on his on his 2010 tacoma and has had 0 issues. i travel over hwy 26 towards Maupin and the mountain a lot so wanted a traction rated tire. i can be a little OCD at times too so i definitely tend to notice the things my wife says im over concordance about(in her words haha).

I know. They look dang good. But I told myself that was last time I bought tires based on looks alone.

Interesting because I’m on my third set. Have put them through the ringer. They got loud when I had over 40k on them. And sidewalls failed around 50/60k. But other then that they’ve been great.

Disecting that post. The duratracs have been around since 2011. You're getting 60k miles out of them. That means you've driven 180k miles on them.. or 25k miles a year. That's a ton of miles. Surprised you don't go with a more street oriented tire. But it sounds like you're happy with them.

They’ve been great. Only one set got approximately 60k that was on my 2010 I installed that set at 8k. But I’m pretty sure I bought that set in 2010 then another Around 70k and sold the truck with 90,000. Now I’m on another set on my 2017. So to correct myself I have bought three sets and driven one to the end of its life span at 60k

Maybe I got mine in 2010 also. I can't remember, but I knew they had just came out. It's also entirely possible they've fixed the problem I've had with mine. I wish Michelin made one that looked a little more aggressive from the sidewall. I've always read good things about them.

I had a set of 33's on my first gen and they were great tires, way better then my old MTR's. I never even had these balanced when I got them mounted on an old set of alloy 15x10's. I kept up on the tire pressures and rotations every other oil change. Even wear the entire 20-25k I put on the tires. Sold my truck last month and they had about half tread.

Snow/Ice traction does go down with miles. I put three solid Syracuse NY winters on them and never had any issues considering my tire/wheel combo.

That being said, I would likely try a different tire on my 3rd gen as I am going a different route with this build.
