I dont think BGE is overpriced, especially when you consider the versatility, and the fact that they all have a lifetime warranty on all (non consumable) parts.

I have a Char Griller grill. Big un. Something around 850 square inches.
It grills well enough, obvious flare ups, because I'm a man and cook on real wood coal. But that's what spray bottles of water are for.
It smokes very well! Even without their side firebox attachment. $70 for a small grill that is also the firebox, no thanks bruh. Not when I got the grill new for $105.

Just build the fire off to the side and meat on the other. Wood chip box on a grate above the fire.

 

Friend has the Char Griller Acorn, overpriced Egg copy, and he's in love with it. For smoking mostly.

 

Find friends with eggspensive grills and buy their beer.

Wet burlap method doesn't smoke. More steams. Still good. I'm researching how to get a pig and these farmers want crazy prices. $5.00/lb or almost. I see pork butt for $2 / lb. I need to find me a farmer.

I think I'm just going to smoke a couple pork butts, vac pack, and freeze it this weekend for RRG. Much easier. We just thaw and reheat. There's only 20-30 of us.

 

I have some left over butt from Mother's day that's already in the freezer.

I was told to cook 10lbs because there were a lot of people. About half of those people actually showed so only about half got eaten.

Anyone looking for a Napoleon smoker? It's had charcoal in it one time to burn off any factory gunk but has sat in my garage since. I already had an electric smoker I use at home.
