No, she has the XLE 2WD model. We have not encountered that issue. Maybe your rental needed some breaking in or something. Or maybe Toyota's Safety Sense was the issue, in some way. 2016 models didn't come with TSS.

Maybe that is why someone traded it in with 6K on it . It really went from left to right badly when floored .

My fiance has a 2017 trd off road 4runner. Its nice has plenty of power and is comfortable. I don't feel its necessarily a great deal more powerful than my 2017 tacoma trd off road. Her complaints are that it doesn't have push button start like my tacoma, that it doesn't have rear sonar or BSM and the dated guages

One thing that's always irked me with the 5th gen 4Runners is the window switch placement. Most awkward place they could have thought of.

it just seems that was a real hot button for you.

i don't want the power seats either, just more electronics to break.

you think its a slouch... line the 4 runner up next to your truck... it will walk away from the 3rd gen. More HP and WAY WAY more torque out of the Dual vvti 4.0L than the 3.5L .

I currently have both. A 15 trail premium and a 17 trdor. In honesty, the 4Runner is a better car both on and off road. The 4Runner pulls my 19’ boat much effortlessly but the Tacoma feels more stable pulling. Possibly due to it being on a longer frame. Interior of the 4Runner is nicer and rides much smoother. Only thing going for the Tacoma is it’s cool factor to me being a truck and I use the bed a lot. Also, the tocoma’s top end on the highway is better.

lol did a third gen owner fuck your wife or something?? You seem to really hate third gens haha

FYI you're wrong the Tacoma is faster both 0-60 and 1/4 mile. Plus it stops quicker even with rear drum brakes :D

lol no. I just know from real world first hand test, but hey believe what you want.

I do wish my 2nd gen was as quiet inside as the 3rd.

Newer 4Runner's have a lag because of the drive by wire settings. Older 4Runners with the 4.7l are ok with me. A picky thing about the newer 4Runners is no tow package (actually any 4.0l 4Runner). You get a Class3 hitch, 100A alternator and no external trans oil cooler.

4Runner 4.7l has a factory tow package like the V6 Taco, nice lowend torque, fulltime 4WD with a Torsen center differential, has A-TRAC. If you can find a good one it's a lovable vehicle. V8 sounds so nice, and actually pretty good fuel mileage, has a 23g fuel tank.
