I am by no means an expert, I simply called and talked to them about what I wanted to do and that is what they recommended. I had the Bilstein 5100's and Toytec coils on my 99 4runner and that seemed to work really well, especially off road. I do seem to recall something about the 886's giving more lift due to their length, but I can barely remember what I had for lunch anymore, so......

Hey everyone, scrolled through a couple pages and saw some really nice taco's! My current set up is 265/75/16 on an 16x8.5 rim and it rubs! I am ordering a 3AAL & 5100 rears from HS and picking up 5100 fronts from a member here. Trying to figure out if anyone runs a similar set up and if so does it still cause any rubbing?

Glad that I am not the only one with this decision to make. I am currently settling towards the 265/70r17 set up due to the face that I will be going with a 17x9 wheel with -12 offset. I am also doing the adjustable 5100's set at 0 with headstrong coils, 3 leaf progressive AAL from headstrong, and 5100's in the rear as well. I do know a guy running the exact same wheels and a comparable suspension setup who is tucking 285's. He did some trimming, but he wheels pretty hard and they have worked for him.

To be honest my truck is used primarily for highway and minimal off road. I just want the ability to go whenever and not worry about the "what if's"

Think I can get away with stock coils with 5100's?

Honestly, you could get away with stock suspension and it'd fit your needs. If you are trying to get more than 1.75" of lift I'd replace the coils instead of preloading the stock coils. It will ride much better.

I think you would be fine. Are you doing the adjustable or just doing the regular 5100's? My main reason for the getting new coils as well (I was originally going to just do the shocks with stock coils) is to be able to have the adjustable bilsteins set at 0 for a slightly better ride quality and to avoid having to move the coils from one shock to the other. I also don't go too crazy off road but do want the added ability when it is needed.

I plan on doing 1.75 for a level look, but may find myself needing more than 1.75 to clear my tires. Is there much difference between 884 vs 885? I've seen the specs and all but wondering what rides better for someone with no real added weight to the front

Regular 5100 I believe , sounds like it would be better to just get some coils tho

I think they are the same weight spring but the 885 is taller. You'll want to confirm with someone who knows for sure though (maybe check with Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road).

Also, for what it's worth, a lift doesn't mean you can run bigger tires without rubbing. As the suspension cycles the wheel is going to follow the same path as a non lifted truck so you will run when the suspension is compressed. With proper alignment and wheel specs you should be able to run 265/75/16 with zero rub, even on the stock suspension.

Alright, I got it aligned, but I may need to get it done again. On flat roads I am good to go and I can lock my steering wheel with no issues. On any slight incline/decline I have moderate rubbing tho and I fear what would happen in a full lock. Trying to avoid any cab chop if possible too. Think it may be due to the 16x8.5 rim? I never rubbed when I was on stock with 265/70/16's

What is the offset on your wheels and where are you rubbing?

Are you leaving the overload in or taking it out? The overload is going to put you at 2 inches and will give you more rake. I think the truck looks I would think about new coils up front if you have more than 100k on them also.

I thought I read in one of your posts you wanted to be level? If so you are adding to your rake if you only set the billies at 1.75 and keeping the overload in. Even if you get 2.5 your going to still have a some rake. Personally I think the truck looks better with some rake.
