Not going to happen man. @mesojdm will be printing body parts to live forever. However, it will cause a delay in the production of Meso mods.

    @mesojdm

So, I modded a mod this weekend...

Here are the steps I went through.

    1) I spray painted primer on both sides, two coats on each side. I only waited 10 minutes before each coat, but I let both sides to fully dry overnight.

    2) Back to work on it the next day, I used 1000 grit sandpaper to smooth out the primer.

    3) Starting with the back side up first, I spray painted the the blue metallic paint, three light coats. Gave it 4 hours to dry.

    4) Flipping the GassHole over, i.e. the front side up now, I again spray painted three light coats of blue metallic paint on it. I made sure to spray a bit straight down to make sure I got inside the lettering. I let this dry overnight. This is why you need to start on the back, so that whatever you're propping up the Gasshole with will leave indentations ( if any ) on the back instead of the front.

    5) Next day, again starting with the back side up first, I spray painted the crystal clear coating, three light coats. Gave it 4 hours to dry.

    6) Flipping the GassHole over, i.e. the front side up now, I again spray painted two decent coats of crystal clear coating on it. I again made sure to spray a bit straight down to make sure I got inside the lettering. I let this dry overnight. This is why you need to start on the back, so that whatever you're propping up the Gasshole with will leave indentations ( if any ) on the back instead of the front.

    7) Let this fully dry overnight.

    And Viola! You're done.

Yes, I know there will be a concern about whether or not the gas cap will fit inside the hole now that it has primer, paint, and clear coat on it, but I won't know that answer until I get my Taco from the factory. I'm sure over time the gas cap will wear it down in it's own way or I can help it a bit by sanding it down some if it's just crazy tight. We'll just have to wait and see.

Another thought I had was painting the lettering a different color, as a few other's have thought about, but honestly, I thought it looked pretty good the way it was and chose not to add a second color. Maybe some enterprising fella can use model paint and brush, but it'll be a rather tedious process.

Here are some photos from the project and the finished product. As previously stated, I just need a 37k accessory to complete my Gasshole.

    Products:
    A) Rust-Oleum Automotive Primer ( to help with metallic paint adhesion to the plastic )
    B) Rust-Oleum Cobalt Blue Metallic Paint ( others say its a good enough match to the Blazing Blue Pearl ).
    C) Rust-Oleum 2x Ultra Cover Gloss Clear

As an Eagle Scout, I always need to be prepared for the waiting. TW.com on the SmartPhone, some PBR and I'm good to go.

    Blue paint done.

Clear coat applied, dried and here's the final product.

CONGRATULATIONS! You have the shiniest Gasshole:)

Nice write up. I've painted some other 3d printed stuff and I usually do; high build filler primer-->600grit wet-->2nd coat primer-->1k wet. Then color it.

All 3 Versions I have made have the same I.D hole. This fits the OEM cap 100%. But I cannot confirm fitment on Stant aftermarket locking gas caps. I think it will be determined by; if the cap had threading all the way to the tip. (which won't really work in the Gasshole because it's a press fit). Although, I have been told some do and some do not have it

    That's an awesome gif.

    2nd Gens rejoice!

At least Toyota did something right on the 3rd gens and consolidated the same fuel door for both bed sizes.
Can't say the same about the 2nd's

I like it, "Old Man Twitter." It's fitting, though I do not tweet, I do Tacomaworld. It's visited early and often, even late.
