My truck kept making mystery noises and vibrations as well as a few other issues that essentially a brand new vehicle should not do, dealer couldn’t figure it out so I sent that bish down the road. Best decision I’ve made lol. I loved a lot about the truck, but it hit me one day how much time I’ve spent trying to figure out annoying pidly little issues out that shouldn’t exist and that sealed the deal. Too many of these trucks out here with issues from poor quality control imho. Good luck OP

I decided to read all the way through the thread before posting to make sure no one said something similar and found Cthudak's post.
Did not delete mine since I took the time to type it. I would definitely try this if it was happening to me.

I know this would probably be a pain the rear to do everytime you were going to go through a dip but maybe mount
a go pro or something under there. Get an extra mount or 2 so you could quickly install and remove. Maybe get lucky and get some
    good video/audio evidence. Just a thought.:sandwich:

At this point that is as good of an idea as any. I thought about that a while back and said "nah, that's retarded." But now I'd be retarded to not try it....

At least when one of my bikes makes some crazy sound I can't hear it!:rofl:

That has been a recurring theme regarding possible causes. Dealer did not likely check that when I originally took it in at around 6k, because they were looking for rubbing, rattling, vibrating etc. I'll get them to check that. They should be able to review codes, correct?

not sure if it will store the code but you can see it live through tech stream.

Definitely nothing to do with ABS in my case.

I know what ABS sounds and feels like. This is a very different sound and feeling.

That's the thing, EVERYTIME this has ever happened (1/2 dozen times or so now) it's always at between 5-10 mph on the smallest of dips in a parking lot or the transition from driveway/ parking lot to the street. I can barrel down a bumpy ass gravelly road and not a peep, even if I hit the brakes hard!?

There was a member that posted a video on here about a year ago of his truck making a grinding noise whenever he went over speed bumps. I also heard heard the same grinding noise when I went over a curb too fast and it turned out to be the ABS pump vibrating when working extra hard to control traction.

Mine did the same thing the other day, but it was the traction control, and I was on dry pavement turning. It was odd

What size tires are you running? This sounds like the exact sound I had from my tires rubbing against the frame in my wheel well. For me, it only happened in reverse, turned partially, and on a very particular level of incline. Could be what you have and why it’s so infrequent.

Seems to be the prevailing theme...
Anybody know, if I turn off VSC will it deactivate the ABS or is it pretty much non-defeatable. Not looking to permanently disable it, just want to turn it "off" for a little while to see if it's the culprit.

How about unplugging the ABS sensors from each wheel? They’re easy to get to. I have NO IDEA if this is safe or would work - just an idea.

I agree with ABS issue. I can duplicate it in similar conditions, but it doesn't happen often.
To the OP, if you know someone with a Tacoma that has crawl control, drive i and use it. The racket it makes will scare you, but it's normal.
I'm guessing something in your ABS system is causing it to be too sensitive (sensor or unit itself)
Disable ABS for a while and see if issue returns.

I'm assuming if I keep an eye on the instrument cluster indicator next time, the ABS light should come on correct?
