Yea, always Utah since 03. I actually believe this one was rusting due to me dinging the top side, I took the shell off of it once in its life until recently (prepping for rack and rtt). That one time I was hauling dirt or rock or some shit and vaguely remember dinging that seam with the shovel. The wheel well portion that over laps the bed was pry'd upward. I am sure I didn't pay attention to it back then and threw the bed rug and shell back in and forgot about it, until now.

It's a really common rust spot on these trucks, likely not your fault, typically water gets at it from the underside and begins the rotting.

Yea that makes more sense now that I think about it. I also have a '97 that has both sides of the bed rusted down that seem, but more towards the center of the bed. I would have to patch it similarly to how I did my 03, except those may actually require the welder...

I am originally from Cache Valley, but living down in the Riverton area now (for now...city life sucks)

That's on my list shortly as well, fucking hate dealing with rust. Had a '81 Toyota Pickup that I had to restructure the front cab body mounts near the firewall due to them being completely rusted out.

I exaggerate how I can't drive stick, I know the basics - I can drive it in any gear it's just I stall a lot. I haven't had time to practice. I can move it and drive it a couple blocks, but I don't dare take it out of the subdivision.

Haha I drove my friends Prelude up and down some hills, he lives in the Santa Cruz mountains. I only stalled it once, because someone pulled up behind me and I panicked.

Honestly, first was the hardest for me when I was learning and everything else came easy after that. Once you're able to drive it out of your neighborhood, you'll pick it up really fast

I bought a SnugTop, That metal bracket you see is for a j-hook thing that long rusted away on mine. I took it home with four 'C' clamps from Home Depot.

Any universal camper shell clamp will work.

Once I get the Vermont plates I can get it insured and I'll finally drive it out of the neighborhood. For now though, liability is too high for me to go into public.

Definitely understand! Man I miss driving stick. It's unfortunate these double cabs didn't come with it. It's on my "when I have a second vehicle mod list" to swap it out for fun haha

It's fun I'll give it that. The panic that sets in when a car pulls behind you at a stop sign is uncanny. The amount of times I've stalled because of a car pulling up behind me...

I wouldn't daily drive on though, since I commute a lot. Traffic sucks here, they'd have to cut my left leg off if I did.

You don't even think about any of that once you get good. I don't sweat traffic and you could be an inch off my bumper on a hill, doesn't matter haha.
