I was scared with mine when I rolled them next to my 35’s. But they ended up fitting okay. o_O

It's making it possible to keep this build going like we were telling that other guy today, $20k is my limit but another $3-5 to pay for fab work would put the project out of my budget and it would sit another 2 years. It's already been 1.5 years since I bought the truck and haven't driven it yet lol. One more and it should be ready.

Yeah I which I had the time for welding classes. I took one a few years back, I picked up a welder a few months ago and decided to practice until I felt ready to weld on my truck.

That's what I was going to do, but last week I walked past the sign on the way to my truck after work - the wheels started turning. Ironically I just finished 9 years of college last week... stay in school they told me, it'll be fun they told me lol - I'm more enthusiastic about this than my last degree.

I'd love to take one, but up here it's through the community college and costs $800 with no certification at the end. Not worth it to me. I'll just keep learning through practice.

Yeah for this price I may have gone for it to get certified. But I'd rather spend that money and maybe lose $100-200 in screw ups learning as I go

    pro:
    added strength
    won't bend
won't break tie rods as easy
    bling factor
heim joints offer more angle so they don't limit travel as much as stock ball joints
joints last longer than stock ball joints, no boots to rip

    con:
tie rods aren't the weak link anymore, sick damage to your rack
more expensive to replace joints when they need it, but won't replace as often
most alignment shops won't touch this set up

    Yes
Just curious, what was the alignment shops objection ? Adjusting a heim'd steering set up is really no different than loosening the jamb nut and spinning the inner tie rod on a conventional set up ?

And it won’t work on other kits besides solos. Never had a problem with alignment shops. Camburg makes one for 3.5 kits

It's not stock so it freaks out the alignment techs. Find a good shop with employees who know how to do more than read numbers off a computer screen and they should be able to work with you.

I didn't now if he meant that specific set up, or in general. At least you're lucky and have a good alignment shop.

Well shit. Time to stock up on tied rods then.

This costs $100 a month or so. Classes are 10 hours a week, so $2.50 an hour seems reasonable to me... the instructor lets people tailor their time to what they want to learn. Some are getting certified in mig or tig, but for me, I laid my first stick welding beads in 20 years today lol. Gotta get through the electrode welding test to get time on a mig welder. I'll pick one up eventually so I can practice while I'm on vacation this summer.
