tried the search, as I feel like this has probably been discussed before, but got no good results.

So, what is the best phone/operating system for the entune on 3rd gens? I currently still have an old slider phone, but I'm considering getting a fartphone. What should I get?

Stick to apple or Samsung Android. You will be fine. Don't pick a phone based on the truck. Pick it based on your needs, like durability, battery, camera, etc.

Thanks, I guess more accurately, I meant that I didn't want to get something that works poorly.

My android connects immediately and resumes playing whatever music I had on without even touching it. Texts and calling comes through fine. That said, I plan on ripping that thing out and going with Kenwood for Android Auto and dashcam integration.

Really nothing works good with entune. If you're just looking to get into a smartphone get one that's popular so you'll have plenty of community support. IPhone SE is probably the least BS of any smartphone.

I have the upgraded technology package with the touch screen. Was told it comes with Entune. I browsed over the manual and it sounds like Toyota's own App or something. Is it anything special or worth using?

I've had zero issues using a Pixel 2 functionally but the app itself is a freaking joke. I switched from Spotify to Pandora because of my truck and you can't even use the premium features with Entune. I still run into the skip limit and can only listen to stations, not playlists, so I only use it bluetooth connected and don't bother with Entune.

I'm probably going to rip'n'replace the entire audio system after skids and sliders. I wasn't about to do something crazy like order a Colorado over it but I definitely want to get Android Auto in this thing at some point this year or next.

    I have an X.
Entune is flaky and occasionally asks for reconnecting and some times does not. I don’t think that is a phone issue, I think it’s an Entune issue.
I’m not happy with the whole Head and the entune in particular. Apps don’t always work in reconnect or when cell coverage drops out and then back.
I am looking at replacing the Head but that’s several hundreds of dollars so for now I pretty much just listen to the FM radio.
Worst car radio I’ve ever had. Wish I’d not got a Toyota Head.

Ha! I just got rid of my slider 2-3 weeks ago. And then only because the speaker failed. (I went w/ the cheapest. Samsung J3. It works w/ my Entune.)

Pretty happy with my new LG V30. Some of the Entune features are completely worthless, but overall I'm happy with the way the phone integrates with the system. I also like the built in Qi charger function.

I'm on the verge of ditching iOS in favor of Samsung Note 9. My big beef with Entune with iMessage is that I have to use the Siri Free feature to read incoming messages. How does Messaging work with Entune on Android. Also I regularly use Siri Free to play music from Apple Music playlists. Does the Siri Free button also activate Google Assistant as well? I know Entune has a slew of criticisms, but I'm just wondering if switching from iOS to Android platform is going to be a better experience in my truck.
