Wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this, and how you dealt with it:

I have a 2010 DC/LB TRD Sport. A few months ago, the dealer installed a bed cover for me. When I got it back, there was a tiny chip at the top corner of the left fender, above the tail light right at the gap with the tailgate. It looked like nothing, so I figured I'll get around to touching it up and not make a fuss about it.

Over the last couple of months, the paint has started to crack and flake off around it, and incredibly I can see pinpoint spots of brown coming through the primer. It looks as if the plastic trim along the top of the bed is actually flexing and banging away at the paint as I drive.

    Thoughts? TIA...

No, sorry. I'll snap one tonight when I get home. I took my car to work today.

Here are some crappy cell phone pics of the damage.

As I said in my earlier post, I wasn't too concerned about the chip and was willing to fix it myself. But when I started to see brown through the primer, and the paint around it started to crack and flake off, it was another story.

The dealer predictably didn't believe me, but they ended up agreeing to fix it anyway. I guess I should be happy, but it bugs me a little that they didn't take it more seriously. It's not like paint and rust problems are unheard of from that plant.

Well I hope they do a good job for you and you don't have to take it back.

Thanks, me too. I realize it's a truck and I shouldn't be fussy, but it's also only six months old and retailed for 40 grand here in Canada. I want it like it was, and I don't want to be staring at a hole in five years. Fingers crossed.

Did you honestly expect them to not be suspicious after waiting months to report the issue?
