    Sounds like blatant negligence.

Anybody remember these? They are still considered "throwaway cars" by some, but the cost of gas seems to have increased the resale value. A 1993 model with the top GL trim, 130K on the clock, automatic, A/C, and an aftermarket CD player is valued between $1,166 and $2,465!

I saw this particular example in the parking lot at the local supermarket. I do not know what year this one is, but it does have an automatic transmission, A/C, and a ghetto-rigged aftermarket stereo system. According to the Wikipedia page, the L Plus and LX trims were combined to create the GL trim for the 1991 model year. 1991-1993 models consisted of standard L models and "upgraded" GL models. I have no idea what year this blue one is, but the red rear hatch obviously came off of a 1987-1990 LX model (note the emblem). The two most likely scenarios; The car was involved in an accident or the rear hatch rusted out, and a trip was made to a junkyard...

    IMG_7406.jpg

It is impossible to know the specific trim level of this Festiva, but since this one has A/C and the option 3-speed slushbox, I'm guessing it's an LX or a GL. As for whether or not the A/C works, I've seen vehicles in much worse condition than this with working A/C, so I'd say there's a 50% chance it works...

    IMG_7411.jpg

The Festiva graphic on the doors point towards this car having the "sport package" as well. If you look closely at the pictures, you will see that this Festiva appears to have an aftermarket fabric sunroof!

    IMG_7408.jpg

Don't laugh! It's paid for and gets about 45 MPG! Seriously! Cheaper to fix than a Prius if something breaks! I would also like to point out, for the record, that the Festiva used a Mazda engine for its entire production run! The only reason the Festiva was so cheap is because it was manufactured in South Korea, where at the time autoworkers were much lower paid than in the rest of the world!

    IMG_7409.jpg

If you look closely, you can see the ghetto-rigged Pioneer speakers zip-tied to the factory rear speaker grilles...

A closer look at the ghetto-rigged speakers...

    IMG_7412.jpg@Jamesboy2233

The car had aftermarket CD receiver, but the head unit was missing the faceplate. I'm guessing the sound system in this car is not functional at the moment, but seriously, there's a lot of room for a subwoofer back there!

    not exactly...

the solid axle 100 series you are mentioning is technically the 105 series... it is basically an 80 series with a 100 series slapped on top.

the 100 series found around the world is in fact IFS and can be found with a manual and in an assortment of diff power packages.
