    You do have to send him a trans.

    I bought a low mileage trans from a salvage yard in New York and they trucked it over to IPT for free. John did his thing and then shipped it to me. Pretty painless. Just get your debit card ready.

    Luckily I have a lift so I don’t anticipate it being near as bad as it would be if I had to crawl under the truck to do it. I’m gonna do headers, motor mounts, motor mount gussets, and coil bucket gussets all at the same time.

    It's not the lack of a lift or anything like that. I have a lift as well, but it made no difference. The issue is all the BS in the way of the bolts and how tight everything is in there. The factory mounts were designed in such a way to where they were never to be removed. Almost like a lifetime part. Unless you are a Prerunner, which most of us are not.

    The only thing that would make it easier for you is the headers you want to do. Even then, the AC in the way on the drivers side is a serious bitch. I guarantee you that you will be cursing a lot. :D

    Anyone in here ever done a Helmholtz resonator to reduce a bit of exhaust drone?

    Trying to calculate speed of sound, but I'm not sure what to approximate temp of the exhaust at. I'm planning on branching off just before the muffler if I can fit an elbow there. I guess I could get her warmed up and check the temp of the outside of the pipe with a laser thermometer. Would that be an accurate measurement of whats going on inside the pipe though? I'm not too skilled in the engineering department.

    The loudest frequencies I get in the cab range from 110 Hz to 130 Hz, so I'm shooting approximately 120 Hz, hoping that the resonator will do the most work at 120 and sort of roll off a little in each direction.

    Heat transfer class was a long time ago, but I’m willing to bet on a thin-walled pipe that the surface temp will be very close to what’s in the pipe after it’s all warmed up.
