Can anyone say "snake oil"??? Sorry for the cynicism but with a flashy website, "scientific data", and testimonials I could sell the contents of my cats' litter box.

I can understand where your coming from Especially in this day and age. Although i don't have an intimate knowledge with this specific company/product, I can say with confidence that this idea is not new. Several companies that i consult for have used this concept in there Finn-power,(And other) Turret punch presses, Press brakes, shears and hydro forming presses to reduce friction, down time and increase longevity of the machines mechanical internals; linear drives,Worm gears,Timing gears and many others. I am NOT saying this company or product is the "golden key".It is a very simple concept that anyone who has ever taken a physics class can understand. When you reduce friction you almost always reduce heat and "cool is the rule"
especially when we are talking about engines, gears etc.

other interesting reads on the idea

and now its WIKI time! :D

Friction is the force resisting the relative motion of two surfaces in contact or a surface in contact with a fluid (e.g. air on an aircraft or water in a pipe). It is not a fundamental force, as it is derived from electromagnetic forces between atoms and electrons, and so cannot be calculated from first principles, but instead must be found empirically. When contacting surfaces move relative to each other, the friction between the two objects converts kinetic energy into thermal energy, or heat. Friction between solid objects is often referred to as dry friction or sliding friction and between a solid and a gas or liquid as fluid friction. Both of these types of friction are called kinetic friction. Contrary to many popular explanations, sliding friction is caused not by surface roughness but by chemical bonding between the surfaces.[1] Surface roughness and contact area, however, do affect sliding friction for micro- and nano-scale objects where surface area forces dominate inertial forces.[2] Internal friction is the motion-resisting force between the surfaces of the particles making up the substance. Friction should not be confused with traction. Surface area does not affect friction significantly because as contact area increases, force per unit area decreases. However, in traction surface area is essential.

I agree with almost all the thing said you said but remember if it was this cheap to improve it they would come from the dealer with it as it would be a high selling point and the STealers would make more money

    What makes XADO different?
“Snake oil” has become a general term for additives. XADO is not an oil additive. XADO works on metal, not on oil. As the cermet layer forms, the fit and finish of parts is improved, thus placing less demand on whatever lubricant is present in the system.

So where can you actually buy it? I clicked the buy link, but seems like it's only the one main dealer except for 1 other place in a few states. If it's cheap, I wouldn't mind buying some to see if it helps my car. If it doesn't work, fine. If it does, maybe I can keep the car for a few more years until I have to get rid of it. Since at this point my options are trade it for a new car, or pay $2000 or so to have the engine rebuilt/swapped to keep it from burning so much oil.
