Motor mounts, can someone explain to me why Toyota doesn’t do anything about this?

Just recently found out my drivers side motor mount cracked off of the frame after noticing the fan rubbing the shroud, which was pretty upsetting considering I bought the truck from a dealership a little over a month ago. Anyhow, why doesn’t Toyota do something to replace/recall this?

 

How much frame rust you got going on? Never seen a motor mount just fall off. I’ve seen the rubber wear out.

 

05s (and some 06) have a sub-par motor mount that was updated in newer models.. There have been many failures. It is not rubber that fails but the actual motor mount welded on the frame.

Maybe I'm thinking of something else but I thought this was a not so uncommon issue with guys that had been wheeling their trucks aggressively. Either the mounts cracks or the location it mounts cracks??? Swear I've seen threads on here about it.

 

Why on earth should this be a recall? It's a mechanical failure of a part that is now 13 years old.

 

Here’s a side by side pic. First one is an 05 and the second 06+. Toyota noticed the problem and silently fixed it. It’s a somewhat common problem.

 

I see where your coming from, but they recalled the entire frame for these trucks, this is not a mechanical failure, but a structural one. Weather or not there should be a recall on it Im not sure.

 

I always feel like Tacoma owners have way too high of expectations of their vehicles, especially out of warranty.

No other manufacturer takes care of their customers like Toyota and still we see demands for repairs well beyond typical expectations.

No one expects a fridge or washing machine to last more than 10 years, failures like this happen fix it and move it, it doesn't condemn the truck like a rotten frame.

Again I can see where your coming from... Still surprising to me that Toyota stepped up to the plate by replacing all of these frames..

Then again as a customer I see a great amount of value in buying a Toyota because they clearly aren't F*cking around. They realized they built a shitty frame and are dealing with it.

 

I have almost zero frame rust, frame is in great condition

Yeah I understand the high expectations all of us have, but motor mounts snapping off the frame isn’t something that happens on other cars. I guess it’s more upsetting for me because I just bought this truck, and I already have to do something major

Reason why I think they should drive something though is it’s not something normal you see on every car, and it’s not just a mechanical failure, it’s structural from the frame, and an expensive failure.

 

I don't really consider this a major repair. My '06 is the same design, it has over 200K miles on it, and I am going to weld in the DMZ plates before it cracks. The way I look at it is that since I saved $20K+ over buying new, I can afford to fix a few things.

 

Couldn't that be bad if more than one failed?

 

@Speed Freek has done a bunch of these. If you can get it over to him, I'm sure he's got all the tricks figured out to get it done in a reasonable amount of time.
