Just wondering what’s everyone’s set up with their J59 Deaver springs and travel numbers. Also how it handles with a long traveled front end? Thanks for any input!

I've got Deaver J59's on my 2004 4X4 RC. I love 'em. I have OME Nitrochargers back there with OME 880's and Nitrochargers up front. I bought new greasable shackles and din't realize they were an inch longer but put them on anyway therefore I need about 500 lbs in the bed for the truck to ride level. The only thing about the Deavers I didn't like is that they were completely covered with surface rust about 2 months into the first winter. This may or may not be a problem down the road. So far though I really like them. They have been on there a little over 2 years and are finishing up their 3rd winter. Just a note. The J59's are not a spring for heavy loads especially when going off road. Anything more than about 500lbs off road on a regular basis will ruin them from what I understand. On road they'll handle up around 1000 lbs from what I have heard. My truck gets around 60 miles of mild off road every month and I always have around 300+ lbs in the bed year round. Right now I've got 360lbs of sand bags in there plus a shell and a few other things. No problems.

I would say I got about 3" of lift up front and probably 4" out back because my stock springs were shot. I got more than I wanted out back because of the shackles but I can live with it. Even empty it doesn't have a radical "stinkbug" look.

Awesome I just wanted to hear how you like them because I’m currently running them and I use me bed often too for moving my gear or carring my camping stuff to Off Road for the weekend. But I don’t know if it will take the abuse I’m going to put on them when I get long travel up front. I also relocated my shocks to the outside frame with them and so far love the outcome just wondering how soon I need spring under (after I get another truck that I can haul with and use as a truck)

I just bought some Deaver J59's. Did you need to extend the rear brake line or install limit straps?

I bought 2 of the stock length rear brake lines and combined them together. As for limit straps I didn’t get any yet but I do plan on getting limit straps. Iv have them on over a year now and havent had any issues with out them but I didnt normally jump my truck either

The Deaver J59 provides 1.5" of lift over stock height. I don't know what kind of lift you're going for, but I would not expect it to pair well with a long travel front end, which as I understand it is 4-6" of lift.

I'm using the stock brake line still. Works fine for normal use, but I'm uncertain how tight it gets at full droop. My truck has been up and down on the lift without any problems so I expect it will be fine.

J59 I feel paired well with my LT kit but performance wise handles well off road (obviously would be better with spring under) stance I do have a little bro stance going on but not too much. At fool drop my brake line was stressing a little so I just added the extra brake line as precaution because I don’t take chances when it comes to breaks since I live on a mountain haha here are some pics

Here’s a photo of my stock length lines together

And here is the only issue (when on full droop) the springs pull on Emergency brake line so I have no emergency bakes when I go off roading (I disconnect) but daily use is all tits!

I didn't need the extended brake line but I bought one and put it on anyway. I also have shackles that are 1" longer than stock which I didn't want. That was a mistake on my part when I ordered greasable shackles but they are working out OK after almost 3 years. I do feel the shocks bottom out on rebound at times and I'm assuming those longer shackles are the culprit. I really need to get some greasable shackles that are standard length. You'll like those J-59's. I love mine. No limit straps on mine.

J59s are the ones they sell on wheelers for $650 right? I’m thinking about buying them for my 98 because my stock leafs are goners but like is the 1.5in lift accurate? I’m running 5100s all around that say they “need” 1-1.5 inch lift so these seem perfect but like any more than that and I’m not down you know? Anybody have any input

Yes, they are great leaf springs, do not run them with lift shackles. Only stock length shackles. Lift is accurate. They will be perfect.

Thank you!!! I’ve been trying to get a straight answer from someone for like 2 weeks now lol are you running these with 5100s too by any chance? Because my next question is what spring/setting combo are you running in the front? I’m reading that 881s work perfect but there’s also a 880? I’m down for anything really not just OME if they work. This is my DD and doesn’t see any weight on it other than a fiberglass bed cover so yeah lol

I don't use those anymore. I ran a bolt in 2.0 coilover in front at the time, many years ago.

Im building an overland build. I don’t see myself going past 650+lbs. I wonder if I should use my shackles being that I’ll be weighed down or is that weight too much for these?

Mine is a 2.7 regular cab and I have the OME 880's up front with no anything for extra weight. They are on the stiff side for a 2.7 but nothing I can't live with. If I added steel skids or a plate bumper they would probably be perfect. I may do the skids some day.
