Suspension question. 6” fabtech lift

Bought a 07 tacoma dclb trd sport and came with I believe a fabtech 6” lift. However I guess the front shock/spring was replaced with the factory ones and sits under the 6” spacers. Previous owner also gave me the fabtech shock/spring (spring part# fts 2100)

So I’ve decided to replace them with bilstein 5100 for the front and will keep it at the 0” setting, 5125 for the rear.

The truck also came with an aftermarket front bumper and is heavy duty or looks heavy with a warn 10000lb winch. Also don’t know the name brand of it.

My question is, is the bilstein 5100 with the factory springs be sufficient enough for the weight of the front end or do I need a beefier spring to put in the 5100’s? This will still be sitting under the 6” spacer.

    Thanks

Here’s a pic of my front.

Thanks guys. But I already bought the 5100 and 5125 before doing the proper research since I saw the factory shock/springs that were already on the truck. Also got them at a great deal. Sorry, noob here and first time truck owner with very very limited knowledge on lift parts. Can I still use the 5100’s with factory springs on this lift with the weight of the bumper? Or should I just sell the 5100 and save for new coilover set?

Man, that's a tough call as I'm very limited in knowledge on those kind of lifts.

Try asking in that thread, pretty good group.

Or hopefully somebody can chime in.

    I would sell it.

The 5100s aren’t gonna do it. Look at your suspension right now, likable like it’s sagging with the factory coil

If you want to keep the 6" lift then sell the 5100's and get the proper coil overs. Trust me you will be a lot happier with the correct lift.

I have a sneaking suspicion you are going to find more goodies in that used truck considering the quality of parts that were used on the lift.

I do not have knowledge on bracket lift, but I was thinking they just extended everything with brackets and the stock suspension mounted to it. Not extended travel. With that said, adding an 886 would also add approx 2.5-3". You might find a stock length coil with a heavier spring rate that would suit your needs better. You might be able to incorporate the 5100's with new springs for the weight. This will be a free bump, but you might want to specify 6" lift in the title to get guys with those lifts to chime in. Good luck!

Thanks! Just updated it. Once I get home I’ll take pics of the front suspension.l and everything under. Not too sure but it doesn’t look like the front is sagging to me with the factory shock/spring under the spacer. I think what happen to the previous owner is that the fabtech shock got busted as one of the valves broke and he changed it to the stock ones. Here’s pics of the shock/springs that the previous owner gave me and of the busted valve on the fabtech.

Looks repairable to me... Take it to a place that rebuilds shocks and have them rebuilt... Those will by much nicer than the spacer lift.

If you determine they cannot be fixed I have a set of used 6'' Lift coilovers I could sell you.

Here’s some pics. What kind of lift do I have? Bought the truck like this. Will 5100 work with these springs or get better springs or sell 5100 and get coil overs.

That’s just the oem TRD suspension with spacers. If you want the 6” lift I suggest looking into all new components to get the desired lift and selling the 5100’s. Or you can keep them and get some OME 887 coils and do a 3” lift. Which is a really nice look on these trucks. Either way I strongly suggest not using the spacers. You’ll get better performance all around with new shocks/coils over spacers.

I guess your problem is you need like an 887 coil for the extra weight of the bumper and winch, but they don’t come in stock height to work with your lift spacer. I’d recommend first ditching that lift block in the back and switch to a new spring pack.
    Awesome looking truck BTW

I’m not sure on the part number or correct shocks but they make overall longer coilovers for these 6inch fabtech lifts. Here are some photos I’ve seen.
