well, the right side works for now. It actually holds on most inclines save for the steep ones. the left, eh, probably for awhile. I don't usually park on hills with the garage and apt. (now driveway) so it wasn't a priority. but after seeing a post here about replacing them I got the urge to put safety first :)

I remember a few years ago when my brother still did inspections he had to use a mini-sledge to get it moving and it worked for a bit after that but then became distant memory.

I was going to buy OEM but $220 vs $45 for the Dorman kit, I'd have to replace the Dorman kit 4 times before the cost of OEM pays off. I'll just have to remember and add some grease when I do my yearly under-spray to keep it working.

of course the bolts holding the bracket on snapped off but the bracket pretty much disintegrated.

driver's side is now done and passenger will be next when I get time and better weather, changing that under a tarp in the rain was not fun. need to buy a drum brake spring tool too, pliers suck trying to get it on :(

Tell me about it. I bought some 4xInnovations rock sliders before christmas. Took me almost 2 months before I got around to welding them together, I just painted them last weekend, and I *might* weld them to the truck this weekend...

Anyone know if it's possible to switch to the 01-04 e brake setup? My 97 puts the cable in contact with my new leaf springs.

95.5-02 have the cable above the leaf. 03-04 have it below.

you would need the axle setup with cable, or at least the backing plates from the 03-04 year to accomplish this.

there is a post on here where you can add an extra piece to raise the lever point above the leafs

Fuckin genius idea with the tarp, but I'd have to find a way to do that with tool boxes and bags because I don't carry around bricks.

bricks were from the PO of my house, there were 8 larger cinder blocks on the other side, I have 4 being used to rest my cap on.

the 03-04 (below the axle) is different than the 96-02 (above the axle)

Also, don't always listen to Amazon, they get it wrong 30% of the time. And the reviews show pics and testimony of the 01 so you're good to go.

    Your number is correct: https://www.dormanproducts.com/p-54410-924-751.aspx

The 924-752 is for the 03-04 Tacoma and 03-06 Tundra
