Stock tikka t3x lite in 308, primary arms 4-14x44 acss scope and a witt machine muzzle break. I cant remember who made my rings, they arent anything crazy.

If i were to do it over again id buy a savage (or tikka, i love this rifle) but in 6.5 creed and put an athlon scope on it like my 223 bolt gun has.

The athlon scope has much better turrets than the PA scope.

I am not gonna sugar coat it. Yes, you can biuld a pretty good rifle for $1k. Would it hit a 2 ft x 2 ft at 1000 yd..depends on the shooter. Is it gonna be a tack driver and drill 6 inch targets day in and day out at 1000 yds......probably not.

I’m mainly a USPSA and 3-gun shooter but two years ago a buddy got me into PRS. My long range stick is a Ruger RPR in 6.5CM with a Gen 1 Vortex PST 6-24x in MRAD. The load I worked up for it is using the Hornady 140 ELDMs with H4350 about .020” off the lands seemed to give me the best results when I ran the OCW test.

My rifle is mostly stock -which is odd for me considering my USPSA and 3-gun gats are pretty well customized. But until I feel that my gear is holding me back I’m happy shooting it as is. That, and everytime I think about upgrades I find something that my Tacoma needs...

Not me, but there's a guy on Reddit who's building a "1 mile for $1k" rifle. Let me see if I can find the thread.

All I hear about these days is 6.5 creedmore. I looked it up, it's almost the exact thing as 25-06. Except way more expensive. What's the scoop?

You think 6.5CM is expensive try a 6.4x47Lapua. I have one of those and they are expensive.

It's (1) a factory supported cartridge that (2) fits in the same actions as 308 shooting (3) high ballistic coefficient bullets with (4) low recoil, requiring only a barrel change from 308, and gaining a realistic 200-400 yards of usable range in the same base rifle with less windage.

    EDIT: Evidence:

Not sure what you linked, took me to a 308 ballistics chart with a .215 co efficiency

Ok. That answers my question. Same action as 308 mean cheaper for manufactures to make. I already know the ballistics, same as 25-06 and it's been around for years. So it get the same ballistics out of a short action. Might make for a lighter gun too maybe?

Not even close! Its the 6.5 round done right! If you compare the ballistic charts, there miles apart. ".610 BC" nothing else to say!

Yeah, it's accurate. Those G7 coefficients are for best-case Hornady Match loads. 178gr ELDM vs 147gr ELDM, using their provided G7 BC's on their website.

They lengthened the bullet,is in a 308 casing, and can get high coefficients with less recoil.
It actually carries more energy than the 30 caliber past 1000yds with more accuracy.
Argument is short action a little more accurate than long actions? 25-06 is a nice forgotten round that handles well.
6mm Creedmore is nice but just a little less energy.
Based on Creedmore idea, the new 224 Valkyrie is a 22cal that is still supersonic at 1300yds.

    Yup.

I think the idea with 6mm creedmoor and 224 valk is to hit the same or better windage with less recoil and flatter trajectories. They do exactly that, and fit in different actions to do it

I’m contemplating building a .224 Valk sometime this year. I already have a .223 setup as my LR practice gun, and I’m thinking a .224V would make a better trainer to my 6.5CM bolt gun or use it as my primary if it shoots as good as people are saying.

Anybody with real-world experience on the .224 Valk for PRS?
