I got lucky and found my MT Pro just down the road in Ft. Walton. Total fluke. Straight impulse buy.

Its too bad that on this day in age you cant get a discount on your car insurance for having a manual transmission as your anti-theft divice. Im willing to bet if you asked your insurance agent to take a poll in their office on who can drive manual, they should consider it.

How do you remove the shift boot in the second gens? I don't want to start just pulling on it and hope for the best but I can only find turd gen stuff so far. I'm trying to take off the silver piece so it doesn't look weird with my Anarchy Motive shift knob. Thanks!

EDIT: I still have not received the $120 shift knob that I ordered on May 14th, and it is now Christmas Eve. Do not ever order from Anarchy Motive if you want to actually receive a product.

 

Happy to be in the club too! Manual Off-Road and a manual GT with a naturally aspirated V8. Happy as can be.

 

I happy to have once owned a car with a manual and a V8. The manual is nearly dead in the US, and the V8 may be next to go. Nothing beats the rumble of a V8 as you shift through the gears.

 

My Taco is my first vehicle with a MT that isn't a 4 cylinder. LOL!

 

Subaru unfortunately doesn’t lead the pack much anymore. My local dealers Looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about which models on the floor where MT. The WRX is about it with the exception of a couple other base only models. And while they advertise their eye sight safety package as standard on all their vehicles, they don’t offer it all on any manual transmission car. Toyota is the only one offering that type of tech (safety sense) on a MT that I know of. It was actually one of the main reasons I didn’t get the wrx and got an 18’ Taco over the 17’.

 

I was reading about Subaru doing away with all Manuals in the next year or two because that Eyesight Safety stuff only works on the automatics.

 

that and they are heavily invested in the next wave of combustion-based efficiency: CVT's. that's a shame because I've always loved Subaru and always hated CVT's. and i have made my choices.. goodbye Subie.

 

Things went downhill ever since they discontinued the Impreza coupe in 2001 and introduced an automatic Impreza WRX.

 

VW offers adaptive cruise control/automatic braking/etc on the 6MT GTI and Golf R. Obviously Porsche does too on the 911/718, but it's like a $2.5k option on top of a very expensive car.

 

Yes, but they discontinued the handbrake and replaced it with one of those push button brakes!

 

Subaru is discontinuing manuals in some markets, but not the US, according to an article I recently read.

 

Actually, I found them to be just the opposite in Fall 2015. They'd never seen a manual, had none on order and weren't interested in taking my money for one. I found one in Centennial after 7 weeks of searching and flew up there to get it.

 

Nobody can answer why sticky status was revoked?
