My grandfather used to say, "It ain't the fall that hurts. It's that sudden stop at the end." He survived WWII, and countless careers while running a farm. He must know something!

In the military you learn to jump out of a plane and strive for a PLF touch down not a PFL aka a Personal Landing Fall instead of a Pretty Fucked Up Landing.

On a side note I’m seeing all of SC and a little of Georgia today. Mid morning meeting in Barnwell. Afternoon meeting in Augusta. Headed to Greenville this evening. More miles in a day than @scottalot drives in 6 months. :burnrubber:

If you're picking up the taco we require pictures! That blue is really sweet in person. Besides the blue that is on @Sammy Sosa the calvary blue looks so good.

It sucked. The current was so strong. I paddled our twice. My buddy didn’t join me the second time. I drifted from tower 17 to 22 (17th st to 22nd street) in about 5 mins. Duck dove about 10 waves. As soon as I got out I thought I was good, but then a bomb comes and breaks 2 feet in front of me so I didn’t even try duck diving, just ditched my board and dove straight down. I got pulled back up and thrown around, had to have done about 5 flips and got slammed on the bottom. One of of the longest hold downs I’ve been in.
After that I said fuck it I’m taking the first wave I can paddle in to in. Well, it ended up being a wall. My buddy said the wave was at least head high and I dropped almost straight down. I got worked. Hard. Think I strained my bicep, definitely have a sore back and neck. But you gotta pay to play sometimes haha

There were some really fun shoulders, but the paddle out was brutal. It was just wall after wall after wall. All were 5+ feet. There was so much water moving. I just got hammered. There was a lot of windswell chop too and backwash. I didn’t have the strength this morning to handle it haha. The break I went to just doesn’t handle size well unfortunately. It just walls out. Ill go back out Saturday or Sunday morning once the swell starts easing.

I quit duck diving after wave 5 in a row and just started ditching my board and going straight down. I haven’t been rag dolled that bad since I lived in Hawaii haha. But sometimes you need to take a beating like that to really truly appreciate those 3-4 foot days with clean lines. Luckily I don’t freak out when I get pounded and just go full limp and let the ocean do it’s thing with me haha. No use of wasting breath trying to struggle and get up for air when it’s not done throwing you around haha

Haha ya, sand bar beach break for me. I just take a big breath and dive as deep down as I can. Let’s hope my body heals up quick and I can get out this weekend!

Shorebreak is brutal. Luckily most of the breaks for me even at low tide have a few feet of water to fall in to. But I’ve been there and done that plenty of times haha

Our swells are generally S/SSW or N/NNW and almost never just a W so ours usually come in like that. But depending where you go they don’t last long. NNW is my favorite because rights for days. This big swell right now is a huge SSW and I suck backside and there’s nothing but peeling lefts coming in
