9mm ARs

I have a 16" & 10.5" .223 AR & 10.5" 300 Blackout. The 9mm is by far my favorite of them all. Its great from plinking, to shooting competitions, to home defense. Fold the stock, throw it in a backpack and it even comes along with me as my truck gun.

I had to back off of the overall length of my reloads, but now its smooth as butter! Lightening quick follow up shots too.

I agree, but I had to build a 9mm SBR to learn my lesson. If the mag block weren't blind pinned, I'd probably put a 5.56 or 300blk upper on it.

The other reasons are 9mm isn't that much cheaper than .223, the recoil is similar but different (9mm isn't all soft like most would think because blowback, not locked breech), and the useful range is about 50 yards before holdover gets serious. .22lr is far better shooting past 50 yards in my experience.

 

Well guys I still have yet to get a .22 or 9mm, but I'm really interested in one of those Just Right 9mm takedown carbines. Great price and they accept a lot of AR style parts. Also, seems to have great reviews. Has anyone have any experience with one? I'm hoping in the next few month to pick up a new rifle.

It's fun, but I built it to shoot cheaper. Andddd that isn't the case. It is fun to mag dump so I end up shooting a lot more rounds

 

I put an AR9 together from parts to shoot USPSA and 3-gun now that PCC is accepted in both games.

QC-10 lower with Colt SMG mags
Magpul K2 grip
Hyperfire24-3G trigger
Talon ambi safety
JP SCS buffer and recoil system
Taccom 5.5” bbl with 16” aluminum sleeve (so no SBR)
JP 9mm bolt
Generic upper
C-More 6MOA dot is my primary with a 4 MOA Vortex Razr on a 45 deg offset mount

Unloaded it weigh 6 lbs 6 oz

There's a ton a stuff to list for this build. I will add, that I run a KAK 9mm Colt magwell adapter with LRBH and it has run flawless from day one. Works great with ASC mags.

 

You should add a pistol "brace" to this.

Nice build. What mags are you using? ASC? Colt?

Thanks! Previous to the Taccom barrel I had a Ballistics Arms 16” on there. Switching to the 5” Taccom with aluminum sleeve netted me a 14 oz reduction in weight all at the muzzle end. It’s super light now, and transitions really quick. Perfect for gun games IMO!

 

Looks good! How long is the barrel? Also, what is that grip, I like it?

 

CMMG AR9. Looks pretty nice. They also have a Colt version, the MK9. I keep debating getting one of there dedicated Colt lower, but current build functions so well as is, seems foolish to even change it.

Thanks, 4" Barrel with KAC Flashcan and grip is made by Tactical Link, called the PDW grip.

 

Those flash cans or linear compensators are pretty handy when you're in a shooting stall. Nice how they kinda move the sound forward.

 

Gimme dem deets! That's a fine looking rifle. I'm partial to wood furniture on AKs but this is hot. Looks like something Baroness from G.I. Joe would tote.

 

The offset works wonders for the hard left leans around barricades. I also find it steadier to use the offset rather than the upright when shooting on the move.
