Spent my lunch break skimming through this thread. I'll have to post some images up soon. I shoot with a Canon 70D. But meanwhile, you can follow my adventures and tacoma build on IG: Roaming__Taco

You *could* right click and "edit in photoshop" if you want to go full bore, but I've had a little luck before with the spot removal tool on very small things like your power lines.
    upload_2018-5-18_16-24-15.jpg

It has some reasonable tools, but it's a crap shoot on whether or not it works out. Since CC came out and they moved over to the new algorithms, it's been pretty rad for me. But Photoshop is still king when it comes to major clean up.

I still have never owned Lightroom. I was a diehard photoshop person. But now, I have to buy lightroom because CS6 doesnt support my 5D MarkIV. The camera RAW is too out of date. Need camera raw 9.7 or higher. CS6 only goes to 9.1. Ive just been converting the new raws to .dng and opening them up that way to edit.. but its doubling my album size (literally).. Jump Champs took up almost 250 gigs on my laptop..

Beeeeeen there! That struggle is real af... Adobe moving to the subscription model is good and bad. It's pretty affordable for the photo-only package and even cheaper for students. Snatch a .edu account and get that discount goodness! Although for the first few years, it's still way cheaper than buying the software outright.

I finally broke down and bought a good long reach lens. Massdrop did the Oly 40-150 (80-300 in 35) f2.8 for less than you can get a used one deal and I just bit the bullet and picked one up. Should be here middle of June.

    https://www.massdrop.com/buy/61906

So now I'll have the following and will need to actually start using it like it should be used!!!!!!

    - Oly E-M5 II
    - Oly 12-40 f2.8 (24-80)
    - Oly 40-150 f2.8 (80-300)
    - Panasonic 42.5 f1.7 (85)
    - Panasonic 20 f1.7 (40)

Along with a few older manual focus lenses with adapters.

And this is one of my single (non-stacked) milky way shots from sat night. Shot on the 5DMKIV with Samyang 24mm f1.4 @ f2.0, iso 12800, 6 sec exposure.

Haha yeah, something like that. I use an app called photopill on iOS. It will show you where it will be on what date based on GPS.

Nice series! What settings did you use? I would guess something similar to what I use to photo the Del Mar thoroughbred races in San Diego.

Thanks! The clouds were rolling through at that time so I was rolling settings a bit throughout the day. All I remember is 200-300ish/s f3.5-5.6 and lower iso cause it was still bright out. Is that what you mean?

Yes, but when I photograph thoroughbred races, I'm at 1/1000 at least to be able to stop the action, f/3.5, and I adjust the ISO as needed. Grain on my Canon 80D doesn't really start showing up until you get to 2000 ISO or higher. Even then, you have to be looking for it which can be compensated in post.

That makes sense. I like to try going a little lower to get the feel for some of the "drama" with tire spin and mud flinging and just follow the target to compensate. I would think rolling that slow would make the thoroughbred legs disappear, LOL.
