Nice. My stuff doesn’t even come close to any kind of abuse. Hell, none of it reaches any of its maximum design potential.

I’ve had Dewalt tools since the 90’s. The past two years I’m finally shifting over to 20v and 60v after two decades of the full 18v lineup.

I love Dewalt. They feel good in the hands, they do what they are designed to do and they just last forever. I have stuff that I bought over 3 decades ago.

My wife, who manages the family finances, has given-in to my obsession many, many years ago. She actually has a separate line item for Dewalt purchases in our family budget. Which is why, towards the end of the budget year, I tend to make a lot of tool purchases. If I don’t use it, I lose it, and it doesn’t carry over into the next budget year. Lol.

Finally saved up enough moolah to get a Worthington 6lb Aluminum Propane Tank.
Cheapest price I found was at vintagetrailers.com. Even more amazing was the 12 dollar shipping rate.

You’re right Jay, there seems to be a lot of good, secure options for mounting. It’s tough to design something when you’re relying on just measurements. Having the tank in-hand will help with the process of mocking up and figuring this out.

Does anyone know if I’m breaking any safety rules if I drill a hole or two in the handle or base, where it won’t affect the tank integrity?

Federal DOT article 37 states "....any modification of a DOT approved container designed to carry any flammable substance, either in gaseous or liquid form, shal render that container unusable on any US Interstate."

Says nothing about state or local roads however.

    Ok. Thanks.
Gotta make a slight change in my design and use exterior SS steel T-bolt straps then.

Of course I could be totally bullshitting.

Seriously though, the only USDOT regs I know of have to do with hazardous materials, and that is only on certain(usually large)amounts, which require placards and such.
Only issue you would have is bridges, tunnels and certain roadways.
NJ Turnpike for one prohibits carrying fuel in external containers. Maybe the Parkway too, but seldom use it.

Yes would love one. I had an 18v charger take a shit on me. Also looking for a 20v charger for the new to me tool, I didn’t realize their are knock off chargers I saw on Amazon. Any down fall to them?

I was looking at getting mine powder coated before the first fill. The propane shop said you could but dark color will attract heat and depending on where you get it filled they may not do it. He obviously would but saying another place may not.. I think same would apply to drilling the holes..

    They’re yours! Both a 18v and 20v charger.

I’ll be seeing @Wheelspinner sometime in mid-June for a snorkel install day. I can hand over to him.

Edit: no clue about knock-off chargers

From broke ass aluminum to grade 8 bolt hood pin. Obviously the heat treating took a hit from welding heat. @Subway4X4

Did you weld on a flat piece of steel to the grade 8 bolt?
