Need shop vac suggestions

Just threw away my craftsman 8gal shop vac. Ive had it for about 13yrs.
The top of it would come off when i carried it (thats where the handle is)

It was only 7.6 amps, but it worked great for my needs.

Im looking for something around the same size, same or more amps, MUST BE ON CASTERS, have included attachments including crevice attachment, a decent way to store them onboard, and 2.5" hose.

Hose length of 8ft or more?

10ft or more power cord would be nice, but i can always buy a dedicated thick extension.

Wet/dry capable.

Doesnt need to have a blower port (i have 2 leaf blowers)
Should come with all filter media (some dont).

Wanna spend between $100 to 150.... $150 max is pretty firm.

Im only gunna use it for bbq duty (ash), and the occasional garage mess (very occasional).

It needs to have a secure latch so the damn thing doesnt fall apart when lifted

I have a Rigid brand from Home depot. It works great, just have to take the filter off for wet vac. Ive used it for drywall, sawdust, water you name it. latches hold great, even though they are plastic.

 

I have 2. The Lowes cheap one is for my garage and that one sucks up water super fast if you ever have water issues. The Ridged is for my wood stove area like bark and ash dust.

 

Get a Ridgid, all the contractors I work with use them. I picked up mine on sale at home depot for $49 and have used it for everything from drywall dust, wood shavings, and dirt, to regular things like vacuuming the carpet

A few years ago I bought a large (10 or 12 gallon, I think) Shop Vac, with some ridiculously large (5, 6 or 7) horsepower rating. [The horsepower ratings on these is a major joke. One horsepower requires 746 watts; that is over six amps at 120 volts, ignoring the power factor of the motor. A real one horsepower motor weighs more than these vacuum cleaners.] The size of the thing was a real pain for me. About the best application I have found for it is to collect sawdust from my router table. That is the only use I could find for the large diameter hose. I got a 4 gallon vacuum from Costco that works great for most of my purposes and cost about 1/4 as much.

 

I hear ya... i need the larger hose diameter for charcoal left overs.

So far i see alot of rigids.

 

I've got a 10(?) gallon ShopVac with a long cord and the canister can detach from the wheels to be hand carried. I've had it for about 6 years and it still works great. Mostly used in my shop or to clean out vehicles with the claw attachment, but I did use it once to fully vacuum out all of the algae filled water from my pool after the pool pump couldn't drain any further.
