The Hills are not rich, but Peggy Hill does not strike me as the type of person to be driving a damn K-car, especially in the late 199s...

Possibly a 1984-1986 Dodge Caravan or Plymouth Voyager (both based on the K-car), but not a Plymouth Reliant.

Even an '82 Buick wouldn't make much sense because the car would have already been 15 years old at the time the series debuted.

Hank would never buy a Japanese vehicle; Peggy should have been driving an early 90s Taurus, or perhaps a 1993-1994 Dodge Intrepid. Maybe even put her in a Blazer or an Explorer...?

I was also thinking that a 1989-1993 Cherokee 4-door with a manual transmission would be a good fit for Peggy, and then it hit me...

A '91 Grand Wagoneer! The Hills probably would not have been able to afford one when it was new, but they could probably afford a used one. It's the perfect vehicle for a middle-class Texas family! Air-conditioning, 4-wheel drive, power everything, and a massive V8 under the hood!

Even the final year 1991 models used carburetors, so Hank would have been in heaven when he did preventive maintenance on it!

KotH uses a floating timeline, but since I was born in 1989, I like to place Bobby's birth year in 1989.
This would mean that most of the series took place in 2001-2002, which kinda makes sense. A '91 Grand Wagoneer would be about 15 years old when Bobby gets his license, and a decent higher-mileage, but rust-free example could probably be had for about five grand!
