For those that built a cage or delt with painting a cage should I expose the metal on the entire tube to make it easier to paint later. Or just the ends is fine and paint over the coating on the tube? I noticed people only clean it off for welding it together.

Either way use a self etching primer first and your paint will last much longer, there are so many " chassis paints " that say they are for bare metal but it's boolshite ...self etch prime first. With self etching primer I usually just scuff with scotch brite first but it's not technically necessary. Most folks will tell you that the red oxide self etching primer works the best for over the counter at Pep Boys priced products, if you want something even better try this : https://www.summitracing.com/parts/smm-39683

smashed this, broke that, covered it up with tape and paint
I just went and picked up my cylinders from king yesterday and took them to Cerakote.
It’s always fun playing with shocks in their parts and pieces

If you have race series coilovers then get race series bypasses, they are different lengths. Its still possible to mix and match shocks, just saying that matching shocks lengths makes making shock mounts much nicer and way easier.

Yeah harder to find race. Just gotta let the fabricator know shocks are either race or non race. To take that in account into the tower. Usually at the shop they don't want customers to do that makes the tower funky, its either race or non race. Or adjust on the lower arm tabs. But yeah
