Ceramic isn’t a wrap, it’s a coating. You can apply ceramic on top of vinyl wrap, but it’s not recommended to apply vinyl on top of ceramic due to potential adhesion issues. It can be done, just not recommended.

Ceramic coating (professional formulas) does not wear off like wax or sealant. The only way to remove it is with abrasion. It does not prevent scratches or chips, it primarily preserves paint and makes it much easier to clean your vehicle. Pricing is typically around $1,200-$1,500 depending on whether you do wheels and glass.

Rather than professionally coat my Tacoma, I use G-Techniq C2V3 at every wash as a drying agent. It’s a consumer level ceramic product, easy to use, no buffing.

So I was in on GB #8 of @docloco 's Rear Molle Panel (found here). It came in yesterday.

I started working on soundproofing the rear wall up last night. This was a lot easier to do than I originally thought/planned. I removed the seats (~3-4 bolts in each 40/60 side and then just plastic tabs that pull straight out with force). I applied the sound proofing material liberally. I was using it for it's properties to reduce sound, but also to provide a black back drop behind the molle system. According to most sites, the sound proofing only needs to cover 25-50% of the surface area to notice differences in sound. It's more to take the vibration out of the metal than to provide a barrier to sound loss/gain.

I also made a quick cover/box over the power rear window motor/assembly out of kydex. Basically, just heat, mold, and trim. Worked perfectly.

I still need to get longer M8 bolts (I believe) for the upper seat catches, but this is good enough to show the crew. I'm hoping to get some good use out of this. It's a shame it's hidden behind the seat. Thing is beautiful. I'm sure you all will like and appreciate it.

Stripped wall of plastic and started applying Noico Sound Proof 80mil:

    Nice clean job though!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
I'll bet any wiring you have done is flawless. Nice when I see folks take pride in what they do, especially when it shows once the work is done.

Just curious, how did you black out the grille surround and door badging? I'd love to do the same

Yeah, for $98 :/ I may do it though. Just not sure if a paint job I can do will hold up for the long run

    Well perfect!
I plan to do my soundproofing this weekend and was wondering if I need to remove the back seats.
Do you think you could do it without much effort if you didn’t remove the seats? Or just easier to remove the seats?
I have not even looked behind my seats yet except to put a large first aid kit and recovery strap on either side.
    Great job man!

For people who have done the soundproofing, opinions wanted...
I did do the Crutchfield speakers upgrade a few months ago.
Do I need to remove them to place soundproofing behind them and/or around them or ok to leave speakers installed and just map the sound proofing around them?
I have not looked or remember...can you reach behind the speakers in the doors and place the sound proofing behind them?
    Thanks for any input/opinion.
I did see page 4470 with the sound proofing video.

Yep, that coupon code helped out tremendously as I got both lights shipped to my house for under $200. Can't beat that and they are excellent quality.

It's well worth it, despite the price tag. I tried dipping my emblems the other day, and I'm certainly now not a big fan of plastidip. Hate it.

I'm not changing my grill to the TRD Pro or the Faux anytime soon, so it'll definitely satisfy while I spend wads of cash (*weep*) on the big stuff first (suspension/tires/wheels, etc). Then, re-evaluate down the road.

So... I know everybody has been buying the hood struts right now because of the group buy... but I installed mine last night. Used black flex seal to seal the exposed metal. It was just on hand but it seems like a great idea anyway because I essentially made a gasket around the brackets to protect from any rust formation. And I saw some posts about the difficulty of the rivets... I used a relic we had at work and it wasn’t too hard until I had to do the bottom brackets and had to change the angle I was attacking. And then I had to basically get into the engine bay just to get those suckers on. But totally worth it.

I did the soundproofing behind the speaker magnet on the inside of the outer skin, very easy to get too, along with where the speaker mounts. You can put a piece over the speaker hole and slice the center of the hole like a pie. Then just flip the pieces of pie behind where the speaker mounts. When you press down with the roller the speaker mounts are easy to find, just cut out the soundproofing around the little square plastic where the screws mount the speaker. With the speaker out you can reach in and put a good amount of soundproofing on the inside of the outer skin.
