    seems about right

you can link together part of kingston via sheridan hill...the northern aspects on yankee last we were up there had some deep drifts though. but you can connect yankee to kingston just below the gates via sheridan and you can drop back down to apex road shortly after that or continue over to rollins pass area

I can't remember exactly when but I'm pretty sure it was the beginning of January and I made it to the top. It took time and a lot of forward and reversing but still fun.

FYI, the "National Forest Maps" can sometimes lack detailed info that can be handy. They have a 'new' thing called a Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) which are almost all available on the ranger district web sites as large format pdfs. Said maps only show the roads for the most part (ie, no topo or other stuff like that), but they have a ton of info about the roads - things like seasonal closure dates, road numbers, dispersed camping and seasonal designations, what they're open to, etc. Then there's the ranger district road status pages I think I already told you about elsewhere.

For those that don't know - Bushducks is one of the best resources for road status if you're planning a trip in the spring.

    http://bushducks.com/tripreps/passopen.htm

You can look at past data too to get an idea when things open up. Looks like Kingston didn't open until late July last year.

So, Michelin equipped rig equals zero winching or will the Puma's be too angered by this?

Unless they started making Michelin's in 35s they won't help you get up that ledge.

Honestly, it's a harder obstacle than anything on Holy Cross IMO.

It's not really hard per se, just extreme breakover that turtles everything on less than 37's. I still don't get how we got you up that that first time.

Will celebrate by making a bench at the lake with an inscription that reads "Four attempts and as many years later, Wishbone Runner arrived here at the lake"

Well, hard as in just plan on winching, cause you're not going to make it over.

No clue how I made it that first time, but it did eat my carrier bearing and driveshaft.

There are 2 or 3 vehicles stuck on Kingston that need to be recovered prior to the trail opening. Last year COR&R almost lost 2 rigs trying to free the other 2 that were stuck. I think one is a nice import Toyota 60 series with a turbo diesel
