    Hello everyone,
I’m a new member and my first truck. Do you know if there is a TSB for a 2018 Tacoma SR5 transmission issue? I bought my truck brand new a couple of months ago. Pressing the gas from zero to 40 mph feels like dragging and seems like fighting the engine. And when I let go of the gas and start cruising it will feel like down shifting the gear and like engine break. When it shifts from one gear to the other you can feel the truck slighly jerk. It’s not smooth. Not to mention the feeling of gear hunting. I saw a youtube video about a TSB on the 2016. Anybody experiencing the same issue? Tnx for your time.

Yes, and if you mention it here your likely to get told there is no issue and just need to learn to drive.

I have had my 2018 at the dealership and they say it’s as designed.

Poorly designed as far as I’m concerned. Love my truck but hate that Toyota allowed this to get by them :annoyed:

try driving with ECT on. should solve the issues you described, that's why many of us here have installed the ECT 'on at startup" mod.

spend $800 on the OV tune and others say it is like magic and totally makes the truck so much better. I do not have it on my 18 but I may get it because all the others saying how much better it is. I don't know if my truck is different or don't have that problem or if it is just I came from a 16 diesel Colorado and this is much more spunkier.

I have taken my truck in a few times for this issue I feel the shift issue around 25 mph and 60 but it not constant. Because of my luck I cant make the issue happen for the mechanics.

A TSB is not a recall. It's simply guidance for techs to solve customer complaints/warranty issues faster.

If you take the truck in and complain in similar description as the TSB language, (w/o mention of the TSB) that should trigger them to perform the TSB.

If they say they have no 'cure', then ask about the TSB, by number. Amazingly they don't all know about it.

Odd how many of these new member “issue” threads are popping up after the Ranger was announced.

I doubt they will come back. They may go back to a Tacoma, but won't come back here.

Seems like every new member with a question of ANY kind brings out all the ignorant jackass comments... from the usual suspects anyway.

Thanks for a decent answer for the new guy @Clearwater Bill ! That was a good solid answer.
