You think after. 2.5 years in the sun that there will be some fade difference?

    Color: inferno

I would venture a guess and say, yes, it will have faded. Red and orange fade badly in the sun.

I just pulled the TRD decals off. The “Tacoma” and “Toyota” also just pull off by hand. I was not interested in saving them so it was not too hard.

He’s talking about concerns of color difference between the body paint and paint under the decals.

If the truck was left out in the sun, I’d venture to guess there is color difference. Easy way to tell: pull off one of the fender flares.

My logic? Inferno is a high metallic color. Even though the clear coat.protects the paint from environmental issues like air and rain, the sun can turn the tiny aluminum flakes that make up the metallic portion a bit. Chances are the paint will be a half shade darker under the decal. Easy way to check... open the hood a little and look at the inside of fender or door jamb compared to the outside paint.

If you've taken care of the paint, it should be fine. Wax and sealant prevents fading and keeps the paint in "like new" condition.
I didn't take the decals off my old truck until it was 7 years old and I couldn't tell a difference, it was silver though, but even in direct sunlight it was not discernible.

You'll be fine. Pulled the emblems off my metallic maroon 2005 cadillac cts-v in like 2012 or 13. The only way you could tell is because the paint had shrunk a bit except under the emblem, no color variance. If you're worried, I'd suggest what others have said about pulling a letter or two off and see what you think. Polish it afterwards though because under the emblem will obviously be swirl free.

It would be harder to tell, mainly because the fender adjacent to the hood is on the top side of the car. In my experience, the top side fades way quicker than the sides. Maybe the door jamb would be a better/easier way.

Your going to see a ghost line if it's been on a few years. These stickers go on fresh paint. Wet sanding might do it and then a slight buff. I would not do it this late in the game. This was discussed with a very close friend whom is well known as being on of the best painters on the east coast for the last 30 years. He has been at the Mercedes Benz dealership for last 20 years, also a Lexus lot added. We discussed removing them off a 2015. Again I personally would not try it.
