Yep, set myself up for that one. I’m hoping hurricane is soupy cause of all the rain they’ve been getting. There’s a couple spots that get sketchy when it’s super wet

 

I still need to go out there and check it out. Would much rather do it when it's soupy though.

 

It’s a fun and mostly easy trail. Beautiful views too. Last time I was out there some folks had really tore it up out there. I’m hoping that’s been fixed.

I lived about 5 miles from it so I ran it all the time when I was still in Asheville. I miss having it next door

 

I miss Telico! I use to ride with my buddies back in the day and we would go to Telico all the time that place was really cool. Maybe one day if the powers that be it will open up but the Gov't is involved so probably not.

 

Technically Hurricane is not open to vehicles. I worked closely with the USFS ranger over Pisgah when I was the field director for Red Oak and she told me that rangers could actually impound vehicles and issue tickets for driving that trail but I’ve nevwr seen that happen so... yolo

 

It's a marked road how's it not legal?

 

Hmmmmm I'll look into that. I know there is some big debate over the other rd which it's better just not to ride on anymore. I will also ask my uncle who use to the Chief forest ranger out in Iredell County and hear his thoughts but he may not be in the know anymore.

 

I think its the same deal as that other place. But I have had a lawyer and several police officers look at what has been written and said by the local jurisdictions on the other place and the local municipalities and landowners are overstepping their bounds on that rd. But it's just not worth dealing with corrupt local stuff.

 

Yea Richland isn't worth going to even without the fuff

 

Yeah it'd be fun having never gone just to check out and see but I don't feel like dicking around with crazy locals or corrupt municipality.

 

It’s not a marke road on th south end. I’m just going off what the Ranger in charge of Pisgah said.

 

Pisgah is weird though since there is so much privately owned old family land still. One of my scouts his family has around 500 acres or so in Pisgah and they have all sorts of trails through his property but it's not open for public use. The forest just swallowed them up when they created it but still respect property rights to a certain extent.

 

Nah man none of that out there. It’s a badass trail I’ve never even seen other people on except when I went out there with a group. I don’t ever see anyone getting in trouble for being out there.. just interesting that local norms can sometimes drown out actual laws.

Yea that’s true. I did a lot of scouting trails as the field manager and often had to actually request a topo from the USFS so I knew when I was on private land so I didn’t get shot

 

I was taking abt Richland Rd. Hurricane Creek isn't as used or abused so I have no worries about it.
