Alright y'all. Finally got off my butt for a peekchur. @Texoma has been sending some of you invites via email. We are trying to not publicly post too much info, so handle all info exchange through PM. But I will keep a List here of who's attending and bringing what. Thought I would share it here. It's a good explanation for a tall skinny tire instead of wide. It's for those that are more interested in function over looks, not that looks are a bad thing.

Agreed. They are actually tasty at room temp.

@T4Rgurl has 255/80/17's and they ride nice.

 

was told by an OLD oil worker once that the reason they use tall skinny tyres in the woods, snow, mud is that the skinny tyres don't pack up as easy and they "cut" through the shit instead of plow which is what wide tyres do.

wide tyres look bad ass though.....

 

@Texoma I was thinking that while I'm in Sea-town I might do another 2" for a total of 4" for the lift.......what size tyres can I run without cutting and still have full travel?

got 245's on the rig now, 255's? 265's? don't want that dodge 4x4 look with 4 feet of space between the tyres and the wheel well.....looks like shit that way 75 series,80 series?

 

Hell, full travel will rub with anything over stock. Best bet is tall skinny 255/80 or do 285's. 265's will look funny on a tall ride. Cut plastic until it's manageable. I rub sometimes at full compression in a turn. Just something you'll have to deal with. It doesn't happen often, but it happens. Street driving not so much, off-road though

 

I’d do 255/80 I plan on it had 255/75 on a 2in an 1.5 out back filled out the wheel wells really nice

 

To give you an idea. This is 255/80 17 (33") with about 2" of lift. 2" more will not have a huge gap, and should provide clearance in most situations.


Edit: I did do a little plastic surgery to help the rubbing until I get the rest of my lift.

 

as you saw, the pre-runner did good Sunday, but, I did feel the frame bump a few times. I think a 4" and 255/80 might solve most of that.

 

will I need to change a-arms and hubs? (used to old chevy lifts...blocks and re curve leafs)

 

It won't hurt. I stayed in 2WD all day except the time my truck went swimming.
A pre-runner equipped with a little lift, good tires and a touch extra skinny pedal can go through a lot.
