Stock Sound System Settings

Not as easy as the tweeters but if you order from Crutchfield they send the harness adapters and mounts for free with your order which makes it much easier.

Typically, "fading" the sound all the way back trying to make it "sound better" = poor quality sound. If you have clean, clear sound the space should be filled from the front without having to manipulate settings. I think the JBL system is "OK" for a stock, upgraded system and the only way to get quality is to upgrade the parts: amp, sub & speakers; which is a function of cost.

 

Thanks for the info. I’ll probably upgrade the tweeters first. It’s an overwhelming amount of info on crutchfield with lots of options. Any particular units that stand out?

 

I went with the kickers recommended on the other post, otherwise I'd be in the same spot you are lol. I don't know much about car audio but I do know the kickers all around were a good investment for me.

 

Yes. OEM Audio has complete plug and play options including amp and subwoofer. Installation videos on YouTube. $1500 for the system I want. Saving my pennies....

 

I have the JBL system and if you have the bass even halfway up the sound distorts so bad the whole thing sounds like shit. The JBL door speakers suck and sound like they are going to blow you can hear the bass smacking the shit out of them and it doesn’t sound good by any means. Not impressed with the stereo in this truck at all.

 

I've never been to a concert in which the quality of the audio was superior to that of my home audio system. Praticaly most venues crank up the the sound and it's all coming from one side because it's in a space that was designed for something else (i.e. Sports, etc..)

 

I do work remotely; usually 3-4 weeks at a time. I'm either flying to locations or driving. 12+ hour shifts full of formulations and preventing drilling blowouts. Intense. Sometimes boring.

Yeah, enjoy rock, too..and classic country, outlaw country, but not stuck on it. There is a lot of good music out there, I guess "crap" is a relative term. I've always allowed myself room to evolve and push the boundries.

 

Rock and good ole classic country is what I was raised on and enjoy to this day. You've got good taste, armandhammer. I like to mix things up a bit and try something new.

Currently, I'm a 7hr drive from home. As an engineer, I fly or drive to drilling locations in remote areas. WY,TX,PA etc. Formulating safe drilling parameters in pay zones. ie. maintain control of a well..
I usually spend about month between one or two sites. Housing is provided. Then I go home for a 3 weeks. It's a pretty intense gig, but I like intense. And sometimes I like me some Deep Space House.
