Is there any difference between the Falken AT3's and AT3W's? I see the Falken rebate specs the AT3W's and the eBay auction is for AT3's. I'm wondering if I would have an issue submitting a rebate with differing tire models.

 

It's probably a character limit on the eBay listing - Falken never produced an AT3. The succession is WildPeak A/T, A/T2 and now the A/T3W

Sooo, here is my question. If these are indeed A/T3W then I just bought the contents of this exact auction over the phone from discount tire direct for $535 out the door. I did get a $75 rebate, same as the ebay auction and I did get an extra $50 off, but that was because I used the discount tire direct credit card. Am I correct in reading that this auction undercut the price I received by $50? If so, is there any recourse for getting the price difference between the auction price and the price I paid over the phone? I can provide a pdf of the invoice via a conversation if that helps. We have found that the eBay shopper is a pretty unique shopper in that they are extremely loyal to that buying resource. During this promotion, we did want everyone to qualify for the same money incentives, and since Synchrony is not an authorized payment source on eBay, that option for the $50 Rebate that you received for using the Discount Tire Credit Card would not have applied to eBay orders.

In this case, if you were to have purchased on eBay, you would have gotten the deal for the same price, but the additional $50 would have been instant instead of a mail-in rebate, however, you do still have the benefits of having our Discount Tire Card, which is deferred interest and additional rebates on future purchases (we do not always offer this same deal on eBay). I do apologize if this caused any immediate panic that you may not have gotten the best deal, but I can assure you that you did, and we greatly appreciate your business!

I've always ordered my tires from DTD. Whomever in upper management thatdecided to have different tire ratings to qualify for certain amount of rebates etc needs to go back to working at Jos A Bank. I never really bothered to look for tires elsewhere until recently. Even after rebates and this and that better deals can be easily found elsewhere. I have personally ordered at least 15 sets in the past before all the pricing games began. DTD use to be clear cut with pricing and rebates without all the fine print. Also prices seem to go up with any sales. I'm sure most will come to DTD's defense. Hope everyone has a happy and safe Memorial Day!

Replaced the stock alloys running winter tires with 4Runner Trail wheels and 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks. Used a new Dewalt DCF-899 impact driver to make the jobgo quicker. The results:



Took it for a test drive. Slightly more road noise with the windows down. No vibrations up to 50 mph. Minimal rubbing on the front passenger side near full lock. Bending the small plastic shield in front of the tire took care of most of the rubbing. Getting the right clips to hold the mud flap back will take care of the rest of he rubbing.

It is hard to tell but there is a pond on the other side of the truck. The pup had just spent some time in the water swimming and chasing sticks. And of course, she waited until she was inside the truck before her final "shake off the water" episode happened.

 

Funny how dogs have the best, or rather worst, timing with things like that
