Never said anyone was being hostile, just don’t like everyone second guessing me like a wife when I’m certain of what I was doing.... pretty much one my least favorite things

Yes, but I didn't bother mentioning that because they also said vehicles had been further. Point was somebody may or may not have violated a closure. :p

I disagree. Yes, shit goes both ways, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be maturely discussed. If somebody posts a picture of their rig that looks like it is off trail, they should damn well expect to get called on it even if they are on the trail. You either put that disclaimer out there up front or be prepared to respond with it. Nobody should assume either way that it's obvious or that everyone is familiar with whatever location. Because yes, I've seen people like yourself get bitched at when the poster wasn't actually doing anything wrong, and that's bullshit as far as I'm concerned. There's no reason not to just simply clarify things and inform people instead of getting all defensive and bitchy. Sometimes even experienced people are in the wrong, or without some good context you'll get some real tree hugger come by snag the image and then launch a crusade with it elsewhere. As a community we should be policing ourselves and not welcoming people who aren't willing to follow the rules or learn and respect them. (Note, none of this paragraph refers to the current situation or parties.)

I didn't really see that until things started deteriorating (and insulting the board is hardly helping things). Most of that could have been avoided if during that first post where you said it was definitely open you'd have just mentioned that you'd run it recently and run into FS people along the way. And most of the responses I thought were just trying to be diplomatically informative. The people on this board, never mind the lurkers or drive bys, cover a pretty broad range of experience and knowledge. If party A doesn't know party B, then there might be some of this and with good reason. More than once we've had people advocate for gate crashing and tearing shit up and not caring about responsible wheeling. More than once people have been called on things and 'didn't know'. And yes, sometimes people get called out on things that aren't things, but there's no reason for it to escalate/deteriorate as fast as it does a lot of times.

Trust me I get it, but there’s a saying about assuming things... I don’t generally pop off at people if I’m not 100% sure bc I don’t like looking like I don’t know what I’m talking about. That being said everyone knows we had a mild winter and snow pack was pretty low this winter, meaning trails are going to dry up and possibly open sooner bc of this. I don’t feel I need to “prove” Anything after people who weren’t there and aren’t fully informed start preaching from a soap box without so much as any questions to see if they were even correct. So I’d say people assuming things is why these things escalate so quickly sometimes.

Everyone, I may be new here, but this thread is for events and nothing else. A productive, useful, and credible forum doesn't allow random BS in threads that are to inform and help people. Can we just all together stop with everything unrelated to events. I'm trying to get an event going or find one and it's polluted with bullshit.

Alright...decided VERY last-minute to hit up the Buena Vista/Collegiate Peaks area. It's always been a drive-through area for me but at the same time it's always been on my short list to explore some trail. Most of my friends are doing standard crap this weekend (grilling; movies; bars; pools; etc.) which is fine but I really just need to get into nature as work and life have me pretty fed up. Here's the "plan":

    1) Leave Green Valley Ranch (also known as West Kansas) at 6 AM DULL (or is it sharp?).

    2) Take I70=>470=>24=>Buena Vista.

    3) Likely will pick up food and beer there.

    4) Find stuff and hope for the best. I want to wheel and do some camping (both Saturday and Sunday nights).

    5) Profit.

No real plan here, I guess. I'm bringing maps and my FunTreks books for guidance. My phone, technologically speaking, is a Dead Sea Scroll so I'm not confident on what kind of service I'll have there. I spilled covfefe on my CB last week so it's FUBAR. Let me know if anyone wants to meet up either on the road or in the area.

salt creek>aspen ridge has some nice areas to explore...not sure when salt creek gate will open though...

sevenmile creek has some spurs that should be open to explore.

i hear clohsey lake is open for business. lost canyon might have enough open to explore

grizzly lake is open. hancock might be open to the lake

    halfmoon creek should be open

doesn't sound like weston is open yet which means mosquito won't be either.

I did the Lost Canyon Trail and Flume Creek Trail yesterday. Still some snow pack about 1/4 mile from the end of Lost Canyon that I was uncomfortable with.

Can you please take your off topic discussion to the BS thread. It's hard to find actual trail runs if I have to read all of your nonsense.

I was driving 285 to Salida last weekend and the salt creek gate was down I believe. The info is confusing though, on the FS site it says that it's open year round? Could have opened in the last few days. I believe the Buffalo Peaks rd gate was closed too but I know that stuff usually opens like right now. If you drive 285 instead of I70, you'll drive right by the gates and you can see if they're open @buffedout
