I ran over a nail and had the tire plugged. Tire tech pulled the tire, plugged it and put it back on. TPMS was flashing and I asked why this was so. They told me it could take up to twenty miles for it to reset. It's been well over that now and it's still on.

Tire light flashes for a while and then stays solid until I kill the engine. Next time I start it I get the same thing. I used my BT OBDII to see if I could get more information but Torque shows nothing.

Can anyone tell me what might have gone wrong and how to fix it? I am planning on bringing it in for routine service in a few months but would like to get this resolved before then if possible.

    Thanks!

Did the tire jockey set the repaired tire to the same pressure as the others on the truck? If not, start there...

It's also possible they damaged the TPMS sensor when they dismounted & mounted the tire.

You'll need a capable scan tool to pull TPMS codes.

Try the reset button under the steering wheel. Just turn the key on and hold the button till it blinks three times. I think, it worked for me , but its been a while

If it's flashing the sensor is broken

What sensor? In the repaired tire? Kind of weird it stopped working right after the tire came off

There is a sensor in the tire that tells your tire pressure to the truck. It probably broke when he reinstalled the tire. Happens all the time

Thanks for the information. Can I get this fixed at Walmart or do I have to go to the dealer? Any idea on the cost to repair?

Whoever fixed the tire should be paying the cost of the sensor to be replaced if this is the case. I would take it back to the shop that did the flat repair.

I don’t think they are even capable of dressing themselves

If they can’t they should be forking over the bill to a shop that is capable to replace and program a sensor. Note to self, don’t take your truck to Walmart

I wouldn’t trust them to change the wheel on a lawnmower let alone a 35k truck...

I go to target, where I pay a little more to not have to go to Walmart. Plus there are always hot chicks in yoga pants drinking Starbucks

Only time I go to a Walmart is the neighborhood Walmart markets. For some reason the Walmart “culture” isn’t in those which is odd. And most of the white trash doesn’t shop there. Guess they need the full blown Walmart experience.
