    Congrats @guitars&tacos

Nobody can deny your Taco allegiance !!!!

Great trucks. Now you've done what was needed to make it work for you. Well done.

I went with the AT this time around. It'll make things easier on wife and son to drive, if needed. Wife and I do date afternoons every week...and now with the AT...I don't have to always behave responsibly. My favorite spot to head over to is a local Tex-Mex spot that has the coldest Dos Equis Ambar draft that you could ever imagine. One grande sized sub-zero temp mug is good....but three is better...... She's a fun designated driver in these occasions. Another benefit is that I'll be getting knee and shoulder replacements in the next couple years and no shifting will be good as I scoot around to my post op PT sessions. Never thought I'd wear out my body like this before turning 50. Damn. Fun times and fun hobbies took their toll.

If I get to the point where the shifty-ness of the AT gets on my nerves....then I'll pony up the cash for the OV Tune.

I do miss the manual tranny at times, though. Been thinking seriously about adding a convertible GT Stang to the driveway....it'll be a stick shift....even though modern "muscle" cars are being herded towards AT more and more now.

Couple of thoughts....Click bait title was on on purpose just for humor.

I dont spend much time here reading the trans complaints. My views and thoughts on the trans are solely my experience. You CANNOT get a feel for the nuances of this trans during the test drive.

Also, other Taco guys I know feel the same way and have even said that long time truck and Tacoma guys have a heightened awareness of the busy and clunky trans. That was likely why I couldnt jive after really trying.

Anyways, if you have the auto and love it, thats great.

This manual trans shifts like butter. I cant believe how silky smooth it goes into gear like glass!

Why not ? I hear everybody say that the tranny has to learn for 10k miles and is like crap until then, now I here you can’t tell initially when new. :notsure:
Its a different story here on TW every day.

Why do people base their purchasing decision on only one test drive?

I drove a bunch of trucks, both MT and autos for three months before deciding which I preferred and to ensure each type felt the same. I also drove autos from the competition (Nissan and GM twins) to compare.

Once I decided on the truck and trim there were no surprises other than developing the R to D delay that was later fixed with a TSB.

New customers need to get out and put in the effort, shop around and drive some trucks before deciding.

Same here. Two years on my auto Taco and love it.
After reading here on TW I am so OCD when I get in my truck, but always get out saying what a great drive and wondering why all the hate.
Push clutch and shift for 20 years in traffic ? Forget it.
Hook up 5k load with auto and go, no issues.

Amen Brother, I don't feel sorry for anyone that buys any new vehicle without doing some serious study. To get on a forum and complain about something like the seats are not comfortable, wouldn't you know from just sitting in the truck the first time whether or not you liked the seats? The same thing applies about flaws in the paint , engine power or the way the transmission shifts. What were these people doing while they were at the dealership, smoking weed?

If they drove a Colorado or any other vehicle you would be hearing similar complaints about other things.
It is what it is. Nothing suits everyone.

Drive the F150 only available with 10 speed automatc. It shifts gears more than 3 times more than the old 3 speeds.

I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?

Probably just our old time Tacoma guys "heightened awareness" of clunky transmission issues

I survived my commute with manuals in the past (3 to be exact) but I just didn't want to do it anymore. Plus, like I said, need a second car the wife can drive.

I've come to trust your judgement @mesojdm , but I can't go with you on this one. I'll take my hand on my stick any day. Now where are my glasses?

But seriously. You're not supposed to leave your hand on the stick anyway. Shifting a manual is damn sexy. If you do it right, by the time you row through the gears and move from the stick to her....well, if you don't get it...you don't GET it.
