Yep dakars. The 5160s supplied with this kit are a place holder with taller leaf packs becuase they're not long enough for full flex, but they're fine for on-road.

I have the kit. Haven't installed it yet. Just haven't decided on a leaf pack yet (I don't want an AAL).

What do you mean by "place holder"? I know I want a full leaf pack, but haven't found one that will give me near factory rake (and won't be too tall). In your opinion, are the Dakar's a good option?

Assuming you're putting this kit on a 2nd gen, the new non-hd dakars will return you to a factory rake.

Prior to installing the dakars I felt like the front was actually higher than the rear with my 60k mile factory leaf pack.

Supra means the rear shocks are a placeholder because they do not have enough travel to take full advantage of the additional down travel of the dakar springs. Since I'm not much of a rock crawler this isn't a concern to me and the shocks are proving great for mild off road, and all around other use.

    I assume it's a set of these:
    http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/toyo...ng-dakar-2-75-lift-by-old-man-emu-el095r.html

It says 2.75" of lift. So with the 1.75" lift in front from the Pro kit, wouldn't this give you an extra inch of lift in the rear vs. the factory rake?

I understand factory rake to be about 1.75" (that's where mine sits now).

@smelly621 is exactly right regarding the 5160s. For myself I plan on doing a shock tower relocation in the rear along with 2.5x12 smooth bodies or maybe even double bypasses. But the 5160s will hold that spot just fine for right now.

As for rake, yes. The dakars will make you roughly 2" higher in the rear with this kit. I'm running 1/2" spacers which provide me with an extra 1" of lift at the wheel so I'm only 1" up in the rear before I add my shell which should bring it to about level. That's with a DCLB.

I installed the Wheeler's 5 Leaf HD pack. After install, I wanted slightly more lift and support, so I installed an additional leaf. I guess that makes is a six pack now. I have a RTT, plate bumper with swingout, Bestop and rack over the soft top. So, maybe 350-500 lbs of additional constant weight. I ended up with 1 inch of lift and very close to factory rake. It shows that the wheeler's branded packs are now not available. Too bad, because the ride with the Pro rear shocks is very much improved over stock. If I had a stock amount of constant weight, I would go with the General Spring HD Leaf pack. Most users have gotten 1.5 - 2 inches of lift and very near a factory rake after lifting the front. I would error on the side of additional rake. Every leaf sprung vehicle I've owned has lost some arc over time. Looks like about $350 for the pack and you can likely use your OEM hardware.

some discussion of the General Spring HD pack here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/generalspringkc-com-hd-leaf-springs.266183/

@NMTrailRider on the dakars I removed the first overload leaf, which is pretty thick, which resulted in less lift.

To my eyes, the truck has a factory looking rake with this combo. There was a lot of reverse rake without the dakars.

Good to know. Thanks. Do you lose some max load capacity? Does that still leave you with at least as much max capacity as with the OEM 3+1 pack?

No spring pack is going to change the gvwr of the vehicle, but yes removing the small overload will mean more sag with a heavy load than with it in.

The remaining overload is thicker looking than the factory overload though, and the regular leaves in the pack definitely carry more of a load before the overlaid even gets involved than the factory leaf pack.

Sway bar doesn’t seem to be any closer than with the factory coil over. It’s a close fit in general. Plus the sway bar sits below the coil so there’s a little more clearance between it and the shock body. Looks closer than it is in this pic from above. This is with the tire on.

Back took way longer than the front. Frozen top bolt took an hour to muscle off. Icon AAL wouldn’t work with overload so had to ditch the overload. Truck looks pretty level - hoping the front settles half an inch or so. Will try to catch the local tire place tomorrow for an alignment. Pics after! 9 hours on the nose start to finish, no breaks, one dude. I need to find some local guys to wrench with...

Aligned and done. 20 mile report is no vibes, and much better on road. There are a couple rough bridges around here and the new setup makes the bumps basically disappear. Braking finds much less nosedive and body roll. I don’t think it’s rougher than stock at all, but I was coming from SR5 shocks with 80k miles on them.

Honestly I think the look is pretty subtle and my 265/75R16 tires don’t look too small to me. Probably 1/2” rake with the Icon 3 leaf AAL and no overload. Just about perfect to me!

Why didn't the overload fit? First time I've heard of this with the icons. I'm about to reinstall the overload on my today because I dont like that it has a 1/2" rake. It looks bro leanish to me
