Patiently waiting, was going to sign up for beta testing but was closed already.
Eager to get the software and start tuning.
I have the bench tune and it's working good but that can only do so much.

Eager to crack into this ECU........

I'm one of the Beta guys and still do not have the software to read/edit/or write the ROM. I've got a USB dongle that was mailed to me with instructions to a page that does not exist, and email communication leaving me no closer than I was before I was "selected".

I've had better service and a better product with opensource freeware that was less cumbersome and temperamental. Thus far I'm NOT impressed. I can only imagine being one of the guys who bought the handhelds and still have not yet received a generic tune (I feel for you guys).

Frankly, the fact that this is the ONLY user tunable solution is probably the only reason this is worth being patient for. I guess to each his own on whether or not it's worth the wait.

Cool, then send me the USB back. As I have said a hundred freaking times I am out of the country right now working 16 hours a day 7 days a week until June 3rd. If you are not impressed with getting access to the solution for free, return it. and I told you the part that you need to purchase, do you have it? have you emailed me about it? Did you get module 35? If so I have not seen. Did you receive the module? Don't see an email about it.

At any rate, send me my beta dongle back. PM me your address I will even send you a return label. Sorry that me saying " I AM WORKING ON ADDING YOUR ECU" and not giving you the software because YOUR ECU IS NOT DONE... for FREE is such a fucking burden!

Return my dongle and find some other way to tune your truck.

I have faith in JustDSM and regardless it only benefits the community if we have as many competent tuners as possible.
@JustDSM and @OVTune I can understand both of your frustrations and I understand there maybe more to the story I haven't seen but if you dont work it out our whole community suffers.

I'll have it in the mail Monday for you.

My statements have nothing to do with you being out of the country. I've followed you on this forum and others from the moment you showed up here. I don't post a lot, and generally I don't share my thoughts and I'll refrain from doing so here.

    Thanks @Roostfactor.

    For your edited version:

You should have my address ;) You sen't me the dongle right? But don't worry, I'll cover the return postage. You're a busy man and I'd hate to delay your tuning.

$Free.99 isn't what I'm after. I could honestly care less what it costs. But I do care about the quality of the products and services I pay for.

    Here is the timeline,
11 days ago you received my USB
in an email I explained you will need an additional tool, that is not included.
You said you would order this
you send me techstream ID of your ECU
I received your CAL ID and said I am ok to get started, to add your ECU definitions
    I leave on a flight, 17 hours,
I arrive here, 16 hour days 7 days a week
no email from you that you even have the tool that I said you need,

So lets say in business days, you have waited "7" business days... to be able to use a software that is in beta, that needs to add support for your ecu, and given to you..for free. If that wait was too long then you should of just waited until beta was done instead of pming me more than once asking for it.

you didn't pay for anything. What product did you pay for? What service did you pay for? and you clearly don't understand what BETA means if you were expecting an immediate, finished and polished solution..
I said I need your CAL ID and got it and need to add it to my software other wise you can't even use the damn software and it's my fault for not getting to you fast enough?

Anyways since it seems people think I'm just sitting around with my thumb up my ass over the last 10 days here is a glimpse of the tool being created to automatically add ECU versions and parse the entire ROM so that different ECUs can be finished in hours instead of days/weeks

I dont think many people think that. I also think you have been honest and forthcoming with progress.
You also need to understand that for many, they have been waiting years for a product such as yours. It's also understandable that people want what they paid for in a reasonable time frame.
In hindsight maybe it would have been better to wait but then there would still be the issue of getting all the ecu's in.

What exactly did JustDSM buy from me? All he did was send me several requests asking for it and I sent it to him for free.

he is literally complaining that I have not yet added his ECU in and sent him the software which I provided to him for absolutely free since 7 business days... Because I need to add his ECU.

    1) Your timeline is accurate.

    2) You're apparently missing the point of my "review-to-date" post above. I'm not at all bent out of shape about the timeline about my dealings with you. You clearly had obligations to fulfill and I respect that as I often have things that pull me away in my professional career. The point of my statements were to illustrate your communication style leaves a bit to be desired from a customer service standpoint. Rather than lay everything out, so someone can get their ducks in a row, you take things one step at a time.

    3) Using your timeline as an example, you sent me: (which ended up just being a dongle).

3.1) "Any link for the instructions/software download? I see the the 3.5 stuff and Mazda instructions. Just nothing on the 4.0" because well, the only other thing in the box is a post card with instructions on how to go to a page with instructions that don't exist.

3.2) Two days later I email you "Looking to get this thing on the dyno, any chance you can get me setup with the software?" because I had scheduled dyno time to give this software a proper review. But I lost the deposit on the 4 hours I booked since the "software" I was sent was just a security Dongle for software that doesn't exist?

3.3) The following day you replied back:
"for reflashing you will need this:
    http://ecutools.eu/chip-tuning/pcmflash/

the USB + Module 35. Unfortunately I had no extra USBs or I would send you one, but I'm leaving the country in 2 days and did not want to keep all beta people waiting another 2 months until I get back.
    Sorry.

in the mean time you can download the software and get your ECU ID so I can prepare support for it.
    https://yadi.sk/d/2jAv5APL3VC4aa
plug the tactrix in + run the software.
    select template for Toyota
    something like 76F0039/40/GD/SH721.. etc
then press identification. So it can identify your ECU info.

On the USB dongle you received from me is a printed code on the metal part. Send me that code"

3.4) So.. The free software you're talking about I had to order $227 + 40 shipping from Russia software/dongle to read/write my ROM? I downloaded "the software" and as I mentioned in my post earlier, it failed to work. I emailed you about that.. And used a little initiative and got it via Techstream.

3.5) You then replied (the same day) to use PCM Flash to see if there's an update version of my ECU ID (after I just told you the software doesn't work...)

3.6) I explained again, that it doesn't work and confirmed that I had in fact installed the drivers for the dongle and all that jazz..

3.7) You replied you didn't need me to do that anyway and that you were getting started.

    4) I haven't emailed you nor have you emailed me since (other than telling me to return your dongle) as I knew you were away on business. I am after all not in a rush. I just thought you were sending me software to test, not figure out how to make it work.

    5) Best of luck to you. If you can overcome some customer service related shortfalls I think you'll have a lot going for you.

3.1 - Finished instructions are not published, or posted, exactly why it is still beta and I only gave it out to a small, select amount of people. I hadn't even planned to give it to you but you seemed very eager to use it and sent me several messages asking. The point of which this beta was to allow a small amount of people to use it and get their freedback. It's a CLOSED beta, less than 20 people, instructions, documents, etc are not finished. This is exactly why I released to a small number of people to get their feedback on what to improve, things that need to be added, etc.

3.2 - This is absolutely your fault for automatically assuming you could take a beta software and use as a finalized piece in less than a day. Wouldn't it makes sense to ensure we had your ECU information first? Wouldn't it make sense to take a few days to familiarize yourself? Do you understand "beta"?

3.4 Pcmflash is a completely separate product than mine, but as of right now required for writing the ecu or updating to a different software version (like a SC file).

At any rate the entire point of this beta was to get feedback from people and walk them through using it, get information from them and feedback on what to improve. it's clearly a closed beta for this purpose. I feel it is unfair to give such progressing reviews on an unfinished piece that was provided to you for free. It is clear to me that you went into this assuming it's a finished product and do not intend to give us feedback. As the only feedback so far is "this sucks!" basically.

Reading comprehension.. No one is claiming I have paid for anything, I'm not here to suggest that either. Had this worked out and your software done what I suspect it is capable of I would have bought it. As mentioned in my messages expressing my interest in beta testing. I was/am willing to pay for a working product even willing to help get it going if I could be of assistance.

Just a point here.. You've spent more time venting at me than you have with most of those who ARE paying customers. Spend the time to get those guys up to speed.

Again, I'm not faulting you for your timelines in our dealings my friend.. :) Remember, I didn't pay anything. I was/am a pretty patient guy. But your communication left me to believe I was beta testing software. I've beta'd before for other software companies and what they provided was software and solutions that were ready to be tested. That's a bit different than our situation here.

I will leave it at this.

    - I need to add your ECU so you can test it.

You could not even wait for me to do this. My software is absolutely testable, I used it 2 days ago to tune a ISF.
end of story. Thanks for your feedback. As far as working with paying customers, I assume you mean handheld customers, which the software of that is 100% controlled by a 3rd party.

My "review" was a generalized overview of OVTune and included a "where things stand" with the Beta testing of the software.
