I haven't used rough country on my Tacoma.

I DID however install a 4" Rough Country lift kit on my 2002 Grand Cherokee (WJ) and was severely discouraged.

Before I even got the thing on the trail (it was my daily driver), I found bent or severely distressed parts, from regular daily driving (city streets and highway).

I wound up replacing almost every part from that 4" lift kit with pieces from Iron Rock Offroad.

Because of this, I chose to avoid them.

Again... haven't used them with parts for my Tacoma (going with OME).

Toytec And daystar both make spacer kits, that are probably of better quality then rough country.

I think he is talking about a 2.5” lift.

Isnt that a shackle lift in the rear? I put on a Maxtrac shackle lift and wouldn't recommend it. Makes the bed too spongy and can increase axle wrap. It sags down at the slightest bit of any weight. Gonna rip it out and throw in an add a leaf in the coming weeks.

No only 2.5 in the front and a inch in the back.

Yeah I think I’m gonna end up going with the toytec.

Have you searched the forums for feedback on the kit you're thinking about?

That's how I wound up ordering the OME kit for my 1st gen. I was gonna try something different... but when so many 1st gen owners swear by their OME setup... it's hard to argue.

Can't wait to bolt it up, get that alignment done, and get out to see what it can do with the front sway bar disconnected. Right now my suspension is so tired I can't take a decent curve on city streets at anything over 35MPH (a scary experience is what prompted the emergency purchase).

I would strongly argue against rough country though. I hadn't even taken mine offroad before parts were warped. No bueno.

Save the headache and the future cash and just go OME or bilstein 5100s with and add a leaf for the rear. Any spacer lift is going to ride terrible and have you wishing you spent a few more bucks

I'm gonna go against the common thought here but... If you don't off road and just want your truck to have the "look" whatever that may be, by all means get that toytec lift. It may ride a bit stiff but its nothing I would worry about. Me personally, I put in 5100 shocks all around but cheaped out with Moog Coil springs and a shackle in the rear. Needless to say I'm spending more money now because I have Ome 880's and an add a leaf waiting to go in to replace it. My point is, do it right the first time and make sure your happy with it. That Toytec kit is fine for someone who wants the look but if your going to hardcore off road your rig, grab an OME kit from Low Range for $1200 and be done.
