Has anyone out there had any expeirience with Toyota not honoring their warranty because a vehicle had a lift kit installed? I had mine lifted the other day and it is a brand new 2010. I am just wondering if I can still count on the warranty covering my problems that may come up, or am pretty much on my own if something goes wrong?

I had a few warning lights go off a week after I bought my truck but when I wen to the dealer, on a saturday, Toyota tech stream wasn't open so they couldn't diagnose the problem. Then I got my lift installed two days later. Then I went back to the dealer so they could diagnose it and appearently I was missing a tire sensor. They said that those things don't just fall out on there own and questioned as to whether it had been going off before or after I got the lift installed. Luckily, the tech installing my kit noticed it when I brought it in and noted on my invoice that it was happening prior to the lift being installed. If I didn't have this documentation, they probably wouldn't have covered it under warranty.

What other things are going to be problems in dealing with dealerships and warranty coverage. Are there any laws or anything protecting me as a consumer from Toyota denying any claim because I have a lift installed? If anyone has any experience in dealing with lifted tacomas and warranty issues, I would really like some input.

    Thanks!

    Your warranty can't be "voided".

an individual warranty claim can be denied if they determine that the aftermarket parts directly led to the failure that you are claiming.

what he said.. the dealer has to prove that the aftermarket part caused the problem. not you proving it didn't

I specifically bought a Toyota with mods in mind. So that was the first question I asked when I walked in to the dealership, then again as I agreed to buy, then again as I was signing papers that I didn't read through, then again as I shook the ladies hands and walked out...when (not if) I lift this truck, will the warranty be good? Every time I received a response they said the only way they can void a warranty is if anything is done drastically to the engine...Like I said, I didn't read the paperwork and I'm pretty gullible...

yeah, think their problem was that they thought whomever installed the lift damaged the part and werent going to cover it.
