I bought the mid grade rotors they had.
was not gonna fork over 100 per rotor for the "cold forged high carbon" rotors........not when Hawk has the full meal deal for less.

so far ok, not impressed....still get shakes, but, that is the REVO 2's I'm running........about once a month the things need to be re balanced.....no, not a tyre separation, just Firestone/Bridgestone....should've bought Hankooks

I'm not into fancy cars , atleast when it comes to owning one in this stage of my life. I can appreciate them for what they are, and maybe one day when I retire I will own one.

My brother in law has a S7, its a beast, has 450Hp and 400 LBs of Torque. His brake setup is standard rotors, no slots or cross drilled, came this way from the factory.
Neighbor who owns a Z06, same shit ( he actually switched out to standard non drilled/slotted rotors ). Broached the topic about slotted and drilled, they just chuckled and said yeah, its all looks and anyone that tells you different is confused. Guys in the know get it and chuckle when they see non track vehicles with slotted/drilled rotors.

The slots are good for pad cleaning, the holes are just there......to aid in cracking.....most sport bikes have drilled for simple reason...it sells, same with cars.

all the rotors we had at team Suzuki were carbon or cast iron with slots, 4 to 6 depending on who we used for the season, with no carrier either, straight bolt on to the hub, pads were carbon....brakes sucked cold.....stupid stopping power when hot.

never seen slotted or drilled on an 18 wheeler......funny how no one remembers science from school, or physics......ASE certs and lots of dealer experience don't make an expert.

OEM is fine, but, some people want quality kit for less money.

I know one of the R&D guys at Hawk, in the motorcycle department, the stuff they make is on par or better than OEM.

In all honesty it really should not make a difference on what parts are used as the job is only as good as the person doing it.
if you don't measure, clean, adjust as you should (attention to detail) then even OEM parts will fail or act funny.

I prefer OEM just because there is no doubt it fits AND there is a possibility of a "good faith" warranty even years out of normal warranty.

There is ALWAYS room for improvement over OEM........a lot of research needs to be done first.

Love this quote. I couldn't agree more about the OEM quality and the need for LOTs if if specific/vehicle specific research

If you've got 17" rims or bigger you can install the Lexus Gx470 brakes on your Taco. Everything bolts right on. Better brake performance and OEM quality. Best of both worlds

What I wrote is geared towards gen 2 tacos. We can't use the Tundra brakes

I've been running this brand on several different vehicles with ZERO problems whatsoever.
as far as drilling for show, I would think that they'd cool faster than a solid rotor. JMHO

I would only buy top name brand rotors, you do get what you pay for most times,

Callahan has been around longer than the majority of people on here have been alive.

No one in the racing world uses drilled, at the speeds they run at and the amount of braking they do they all use solid rotors, some use slotted, but no one uses drilled. a full unaltered piece of steel ( or carbon) transfers heat better that tons of little hot spots.

It is Thermo dynamics. The reason it may appear to run cooler is the edges of the drilled holes. majority of us have been taught that sharp edges or fins will promote cooling.......That is true, but not true. on something like a Hardley Movinson engine the fins transfer heat away from the cylinder, but, they work in conjunction with the oil to cool.

Rotors are left to heat and cool all on their own with no help. it is kinda like running a liquid cooled dirt bike with low coolant and a rad plugged with mud.....

    just for your info...

We're not racing we're talking about Tacoma parts
