Obviously a base model Tacoma is never going to be a Lexus in terms of interior quietness. The primary objective of the sound deadening was better sound quality!

My neighbor thought we were gonna have to remove the seat AGAIN, like we did when he put in the amp and subwoofer last month, but we didn't!

This 2000-2002ish Caddy has been sitting here in this exact same spot for at least a couple of weeks. The inspection stickers expired in December 2017. It has gotten at least one parking ticket. I don't know if it has mechanical problems, or if the owner is out of town, or what. The owner does live around the corner from where the car is parked, so maybe they are out of town, but if not this wouldn't be the first abandoned vehicle in Doylestown...

The stereo system definitely sounds better, but at 60 MPH on the 611 Bypass, I didn't notice much of a difference in terms of road noise or the lack thereof...

I have some leftover material from a home repair project from Home Depot that looks a lot like that roadkill - very heavy duty aluminum foil backed by thick black stickum - I may give it a shot on my back wall.

We have three old computers that have been sitting in our garage for the last couple of years, a Packard Bell (running Windows 98; seen here) from the late 1990s, a Dell from 2002, and an HP from 2007. We were cleaning out the garage today, and my dad tasked me with dismantling the computers and removing the hard drives so he could destroy them for security reasons. The Packard Bell and the Dell still worked, as far as I know. We just replaced them when they got old. The HP's hard drive crapped out in 2015 or so, and we have not had a desktop computer since (we all have laptops).

What's weird is that I don't remember us ever owning a computer with Windows 98...

My parents married in 1988, I was born in 1989, and I think my they bought their first computer in 1987-1988. We moved from California to Pennsylvania in 1990, and I'm pretty sure my dad bought another computer. All I remember about it is that it did NOT have Windows. We didn't have AOL, but rather an online service called Prodigy.

We moved backed to California in 1996 and that's when my parents bought our first computer with Windows (specifically Windows 95). It came with an awesome software bundle which included a bunch of computer games for me.

What's weird here is, like I said, I don't remember us ever having a computer with Windows 98. I remember the Windows 95 machine being our primary computer until 2002, when we moved to Virginia and the Dell took its place. The Windows 95 machine was relegated to the basement where we still used it for word processing, and I occasionally got Monster Truck Madness 2 to work. My parents got me MTM2 for Christmas in 1998, and it was my favorite game. My Grandma got me a PlayStation for Christmas in 1999, and I still played MTM2 but the PlayStation quickly took the computer's place as my primary source of electronic entertainment. For Christmas in 2001, my parents bought me a PS2 which quickly replaced the first PlayStation, and that was my primary source of electronic entertainment (at least until my parents bought me The Sims for Christmas in 2002, and subsequently bought me every single expansion pack between then and 2005).

My dad says we must have replaced the Windows 95 machine with one running Windows 98 at some point, but neither of us can remember. One thing I do remember is that we used the same computer monitor for the family computer from 1996 until we bought the Dell in 2002. I'm guessing we must have replaced the Windows 95 machine due to a problem of some sort, in which my dad deemed it more economically feasible to buy a new tower than to fix the old one. The screen worked fine, so we kept that.

My dad and I were also perplexed as to why this was written on the outer casing in permanent marker...

    image.jpg

Prior to 1996, we had a non-Windows computer. Our best guess was that all of our 1991-1996 tax info was on this machine, so my dad wrote on it as a way to keep track of that info before mothballing it.
