I second this...the boats practically load themselves.

Yes, we know they'll fit...the OP has a bad back, and doesn't want to lift them up there anymore. I have a bad back back as well, I can sympathized. I have a trailer for the dirt bikes and kayaks...so much easier. No longer have to push the bikes up into the bed or lift the boats up on a rack either.

An extra 1 ft on the bed is not going too do anything over a shortbed, when you are talking about yaks.

Thanks for the help guys, Was really hoping to find one on a dealer lot. I've bought a lot of vehicles, and have generally found that dealers are MUCH more willing to deal/haggle on lot inventory over something they are going to have to order/dealer trade for. I could probably make do with a Short bed, but I would prefer the long bed(and personally think it looks better), and since I'm the primary driver why should I settle for less than what I want?
And for those that mentioned the trailer, I have thought about it, and have almost bought a few cheap ones that popped up around me, but a few of the places that I fish on a regular basis aren't really "trailer friendly", lol.

That's true if you float ones 12' and under. Which can be the right choice on some waters.

The long bed is helpful when you use a full sized yak though. Which again, can be the right choice on some waters.

Even better when they whisky throttle and fall off the side. :D

Don't think I'll ever go back to putting them in the bed of the truck again. This is a 5X8'...it is like having a fullsize truck bed without having to own a fullsize truck. makes Home Depot/Lowes runs awfully easy too.

When in Kayak mode, I have a piece of PVC pipe I slip over the edge of my bike ramp (which doubles as the tailgate) so the edge doesn't chew them up...and the boats lay on the top rail of the trailer, works great.

Oh yeah I know. Seen guys do that and give it too much throttle and shoot the ramp from out and under...or slip on the bike stand they are using as a step.

Back on topic... dunno, think I would keep the 4Runner and just do a trailer. I can get mine into some fairly tight spots.

Off topic but do you have a pic of “kayak mode”. I have a 5x8 that I’m planning on building a removable setup to put the kayak on the trailer

I also was looking for DCLB Off-Road in Blazin Blue with Premium and JBL. I looked around the MD area, emailing lots of dealers. They all wanted me to come see the trucks on the lot. Finally Koons swapped the build slot for a minivan with a dealer in Oregon. I waited about 5 months for it to be built/delivered and it was exactly what I wanted. Take your time unless you’re the type to trade it next year anyways. I’ll probably have this truck for the next 20 years.

I don't currently, usually just rent them or borrow my buddy's.

Don't even have a good shot of my trailer, have a Big Tex 305a...bought that because they use round tube for their top rail...doesn't flex like angle iron. Mine didn't come with a tailgate (like the picture)...so I just drilled a couple holes in my moto ramp and attached it to the back of the trailer horizontally with pins and lynch pins. Kayaks simply lay on the top rail and the moto ramp, and secure them down with my moto tie downs.

Edit: Found a halfway decent picture of the trailer (with my wife's KX100).

Fairly simple, when not hauling bikes, just toss the boats on the toprail and "tailgate". Took a PVC pipe that ran a cut down the length of it, then slip it over the edge of the moto ramp so it doesn't tear up the boats.

Found a picture of us kayaking, but none of the boats on the trailer.

I feel your pain... I would have love to have found even a dcsb with the 4-banger and a manual, 4x4, not TRD... never going to happen... because I want it. :p

Didn’t they tell you? They dont like to talk about that here. They shun you and tell you your dumb for saying that. They circle :jerkoff: each other over their huge beds. Funny, almost like they are making up for something. :stirthepot:

What's dumb is the guys, usually younger that believe driving a manual makes you somehow superior, it doesn't but they like to think so.

Yes I have a manual that is more fun to drive than any Tacoma (I've owned a few to compare), no I don't need a manual in everything I drive.

I need the cabin and bedspace more than I need to decide what gear the truck needs to be in for everything.

Nope, DCLBs not available but you can get some configurations of the AC which comes with the 6ft bed with the MT.

I’m also looking for a DCLB OR with the Tech and Premium packages, and as you (and @Tacomamike mike and others) have indicated, these are not readily available. Especially if you specify a color like I have (Inferno). I’ve checked several dealers in the SE Toyota region (NC and SC), and VA and TN also, with no luck. Most say it will have to be ordered and built, and will take 2-3 months.
