I saw someone else w the same exact Tacoma as me w 35’s and it looked like he only trimmed a tad bit to prevent rubbing and was just wondering w a 5 inch suspension lift if 315/75/r 16would rub on full turns?

Idk for a fact but i. Theory its 1” of lift for everyone 1” of going up in tires so up and down should be fine, as for turning im sure with the proper Bs wheels, good alignment and some minor trimming ad pinch weld mod you can run 35s with minor to no rubbing at all.

Thats being said there is a few guys on here with only 2.5” probably and run 35s no problem and i think even a guy with stock suspension and 35” but he tubbed his cab

Lift doesn't solve frame rubbing problems.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
You have to tub for 35s, lift doesn't equal clearance.

That could be changed with the right back spacing on his rims.

Yes. That's how you deal with the frame rub. But providing clearance for 35s requires a lot of trimming, hammering, chopping, and tubbing of you want full articulation. The only way to run a tire that big on a first gen with trimming "a tad bit" is to stay on asphalt and never go over bumps while you're turning. I had to trim and hammer to keep 285/75-16s from rubbing my fenders when I turned while backing out of my driveway.

Yeah I know what kind of tubbing is required since I’ve done it and have 35s already. But all he needs is the right back spacing and he won’t rub on the frame.

If your going to crawl with 35s you will and may rub. BUT THIS IS OKAY!! To an extent. Lol. Suspension/body lift, adjustable "correctly tuned" Ucas/Lcas, cut/trimming/pinchweld and tire aggressiveness all come into factor. If done correctly you dont have to tub.

In my experience on a 3rd gen 4runner the best setup is stock or slight offset wheels. 3" suspension with 1.5" body lift to clear fenders on uptravel. SPC control arms set at G setting, adding 0* extra camber, maxed lcas bolts (tuning camber w/spcs). Trimmed inner plastic, fender flare and pinch weld pounded flat.
