I remember back in 1984 - 86 when I was a underground electrician and working on the Scottsdale Sheraton remodel . We ran 7200 volt underground lines from a APS Pole to a Switch gear inside the property . This was buried at 8' depth and the depth and location was marked on the Blue Prints

A few months into the job there was change orders for Palm tree locations . I was working on setting transformers and pads one day and next thing I heard loud explosion and power going out on the job site

A worker runs over to me saying a landscaper just hit one of the 7200volt buried cables with his backhoe and blew it up almost killing the operator . Come to find out the landscapers didn't check the revised blue prints when they dug (6) holes for Palm trees near the pool area

Yep even Death Valley they closed some awesome trails that were very fun technical trails . The one I remember the most which was outside of Ballarat Was the Suprise Canyon trail . Winching of 7 waterfalls and hard core rock crawling up to Panamint city

 

....and the coyote was still hanging around. More than likely trying to snag one of the camper's dogs.

 

Those buggers wander through our neighborhoods during the dry season. Apparently swimming pools make for good water sources and chihuahuas go missing.

 

They literally line up on the roadsides at the beginning of Snowbird season because they know those rv's and motorhomes carry dogs and cats that they will unknowingly let out to "do their business" thinking they will be fine. The first month of snowbird season the bulletin boards are full of lost pet posters. And now that it's getting warm (hot), most animals hang down by the reservoir and river so it's a happy little hunting ground. Add in a big holiday thay draws the locals (and their dogs) for a weekend of camping and them coyotes are eating good and feeding their pups.

Yes they have closed even more and then blm came through and cut down chicken rock and put in a nice big bridge, that was a bit of a pucker before. Not sure but probably because of the rollovers
