Anyone take their 3rd gen up the alcan yet?(I am sure there are)
I might be headed back up again!
Last trips, it was a 2nd gen AC I4 4x4 5 speed that was overloaded, but honestly did alright.
This time would be a 17 OR DCLB 4x4.. I wounder how it would do in comparison.

I definitely will! I am hoping to get similar mileage to my 4 cylinder(so far it gets roughly the same in the city).

It should be a nice smooth ride compared to that! I might tow a trailer though so that will kill its MPG

I've done the Alcan once, and the Cassiar as well. Do you have any specific questions?

You’ll be fine, you already know what to expect and the road was in pretty good shape. I just made the drive down a little over a month ago, headed back up in a few weeks. Averaged about 17mpg and took two days from the Alaskan border to Montana border crossing.

That is the road I will be taking--heading up to whitehorse. Been down the ALCAN twice.. just a different truck and HOPEFULLY not a load.

I am hoping for 20 unloaded... We shall see!

I have driven the alcan about 7 or 8 times in all sorts of vehicles. Last trip was in my wife’s 89 yota 22re. You will be fine. I would love to do it in my new truck. I love that drive. Also talked with someone the other day that said the section from the Canadian border to Tok is pretty bad where usually it’s the other way around. Have a blast. Totally jealous!

Cassiar gets my vote... although you miss Liard hot springs. Big trade off.

    Not enough to list
I've been up the Alaska Highway. Possibly on the Alcan in my stock 16 OR. It was fine. Watch for assholes hauling ass in the opposite direction on the washed out roads, they can throw rocks. Thought my windshield was going to explode by the rock that hit it, no problems though

Went last summer. Can't recommend enough going to Dawson City Yukon. Tok -> Chicken -> Top of the World Highway -> Dawson City. Phenomenal.

Enjoy the trip! And don't forget your MilePost!
