Over the last few days I've looked through this entire thread. I am surprised that there isn't a higher number of folks running something like a contractors canopy or alucab etc. Currently I have a soft topper and have decided I would prefer to have a hard shell with windoors and or easy access to items that may be on the side or front of bed. Seems for a camping set up, a contractors with boxes in the side windows would be super practical. Just an observation.

I would refuse the shell with that kind of quality control issue.

Does Anyone has a RTT mounted on top of their Leer 100XR? if so do they have any issues with it? whats the weight capacity being static? will it hold up fine? I don't wanna destroy a brand new topper by adding weight on top..

I have a tepui kukenam on my 100xr. It’s not there year-round, only when we’re using it. It’s held up fine so far, and I don’t expect any issues.

I had a snugtop on my 2nd gen and used the tent a ton on it with no problems.

I have the twin. I sometimes run a CVT tent on top. Been pretty happy.

Looks great! How does it handle the CVT tent? I am looking into doing something similar down the road.

Actually does great. You can hear it up there (wind) and it impacts MPG some but not as bad as I expected. I only mount it when I am camping. I use the Yakima bars and it has worked well. I did add the bed stiffeners just as a precaution and I don't do any crazy 4x4 wheeling with it on the truck.

This week I drove back to the Leer dealer (Sam T Evans in Midvale, UT) and I asked them to check my top's installation. There happened to be two full-size trucks parked next to me and the Leer tops on them also showed a similar gap on both sides of the box, about 1/2". I was told this is normal. I wonder if the Leer factory (TAG West Division) that supplies my region is running large on the sizing?? Let's see some photos of Gen 3's with Leers coming out of the east coast? I'm curious how much gap they have after install. I know I have seen more seamless fits and the aesthetics on mine is really bugging me.
