Yes, Someone brought that up in an earlier post and I double checked that also. I do appreciate all of the ideas everyone is giving me. So far it all checks out as ok. I did receive another laptop tonight so I will see what happens tomorrow? I think I will have to wait for Matt to email another registration though? I am not sure if it will work with another laptop since I never completely got this one to do anything?

Meaning the TSB that Toyota is doing for free? I'm very surprised how many people haven't done this yet. I was at the dealership the morning that came out over a year ago waiting to get it done. I couldn't wait. It's free and fast.

Yes unfortunately a typo by me. It’s 04B01
I have call in for my Toyota service manager current to make an appointment for the TSB reflash which they “said” they did last month.

So, I just returned from vacation with the family in the Taco (we have an infant so the DCSB works fine for us with the tonneau to secure cargo and racks galore for all our adult and kid toys)

yes, the truck drove well most of the time and I wouldn't even want to think about driving stock loaded down with bikes, kayaks, strollers, camping gear, coolers, etc., but I will say I have to echo. 3rd and 4th do need some serious work and I don't think it's something that would be practical for @OVTune to just do custom as this will require a lot of work for many folks who would appreciate it.

Here's what I mean - I was in the mountains of western NC, so lots of steep grades, many quite long with gradual climbs. I'm in 4th doing about 50, but I start to lose speed so I press a bit on the skinny pedal - nothing. Then I press a little more - nothing (lugging around 2k RPMS). At this point I'm slowing down to 45-40 so I press a little more - nothing. Then I finally just mash the damn pedal when I finally downshift to 3rd and the engine screams at 5k RPMs. I pick up speed, then I let off the accelerator (the climb is not even as aggressive now and is starting to plateau). It won't upshift. So I'm cruising in 3rd unable to get it to downshift to 4th (even if I try S4 or something) and it would not go up to 4th until I was full descending and under zero load. This happened every single time I was in some of those long climbs on 4-lane highways (so we're not talking little windy mountain roads - in those scenarios I'll run it in S3 most of the time driving speeds <35).

There definitely was a dead pedal feel in 4th many times with a much delayed downshift to 3rd. Some of it's gearing, I know but even then the responsiveness of the throttle/shifting in 4th were not what I'd expect. I even had the same experience once we had camp set up and 3-400lbs of gear unloaded. I also sometimes feel like perhaps the torque converter changes, while generally a MASSIVE improvement over stock could be working against the truck in these kind of scenarios where it needs to spin freely (unlock or half-lock) to reach a certain RPM before locking and is likely why the stock calibration is so weird b/c its does this all the time in a frustrating manner.

Anyhow, again overall highway driving, offroading on muddy fire roads, etc., it was great but the TC and 3/4th calibration in 1.04 are not yet what I'd call "complete" to the extent its time to do all of the final refinements in a custom tune.

And again I'll say it - the tune is amazing, the truck sings. But these quirks are real and I know others will agree!

It does it in both. I’ve driven hundreds of miles in both. 91 is just smoother with more power.

I have this same dead pedal and jumping to 5k rpms issue as well. Quite annoying when you just want a little bit for acceleration but it wont respond and when it does it screams and throws you back all the way up to 5krpms

Yea. Frank was the lead complainer for a long time but I think that trophy has been passed on in recent weeks

Yeah, does it in both. I just personally prefer the way this engine runs on premium (this was true for me stock as well) and the tune definitely makes the truck more peppy and smooth with the 91 tune (with 93 gas in my locale).

Since you were carrying a load did you try ECT? If so, did that make a difference? I’m getting ready to pull a 5K lbs trailer 400 miles round trip in a couple weeks. It’s mostly flat land but was considering flashing back to 1.03 for the trip. Thoughts?
